General Description
The ProjectEngineer will be responsible for performing design, permitting, and construction administration tasks on a variety of water and wastewater projects for municipal clients across New England. Water projects include water main and service installations, well stations, meter replacement programs, distribution system modeling, master planning, and storage tanks. Wastewater projects include collection systems, pumping stations, and force mains. A Project Engineer takes an increasingly responsible role in the technical aspect of projects and performs other duties and responsibilities, such as assisting a Project Manager with client contact, maintaining budgets and schedules, project coordination, project reviews, and technical proposals.

Job Responsibilities
* Prepares technical memoranda, reports, calculations, correspondences, designs, drawings, specifications, permit applications, quantity takeoffs, and cost estimating.
* Assists the Project Manager in complying with assigned project schedules and budgets by actively reporting on project progress and by identifying additional work outside the contractual Scope of Work.
* Works with subconsultants under the direction of the Project Manager.
* Reviews calculations, design assumptions, and concepts to assure quality control.
* Provides technical input into proposals by developing scope of work, budgets, and schedules by relying on historical information or experience.
* Assists in the preparation of technical presentations. Participates in client meetings and/or technical presentations.
* Works effectively and efficiently within established hourly budgets and monitors self-performance.
* Develops knowledge in pertinent local, state, and federal regulations; prepares permit applications; and coordinates with regulators.
* Develops and maintains positive relationships with clients on technical issues by effectively communicating on a frequent and regular basis as directed by the Project Manager.
* Leads fieldwork such as GPS data collection & construction observation.
* Assists with construction administration by tracking and reviewing submittals, preparing meeting agendas and minutes, reviewing and compiling daily and weekly construction reports, and tracking construction schedules. Provides updates to the Project Manager.
* Develops and maintains positive working relationships with staff. Provides on-the-job training and mentoring for entry-level engineers and interns.
* Demonstrates proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, and other associated computer-based technical software.



  • Develops skills in hydraulic modeling with software programs such as WaterGEMS and SewerGEMS.
    * Develops increasingly effective writing and presentation skills and can present data that supports technical decisions and the rationale for making them.

    Education and Experience
    A Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering field and 4 years of experience of increasing responsibility is typically required, or a Master's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering field with 3 years of relevant experience.

    Registrations
    Engineer-in-Training (EIT), actively pursuing P.E. registration in Massachusetts or ability to obtain same by reciprocity.
