Responsibilities

Assists the technologists in performing basic patient care according to Medical Center policies and procedures to ensure quality patient care of assigned patients of all ages.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of patient care, comfort and safety procedures
  • Obtains accurate patient histories and explains rationale of procedures to patients/families
  • Positioning of patients for appropriate exam, making patient as comfortable as possible
  • Prep patients according to exam
  • Follows the logical order of events in each procedure to anticipate sudden changes in patient condition
  • Work efficiently with computers and software driven imaging machines
  • Follows all conditions of MMCI and IDNS regulations maintaining personal exposure ALARA


Assists technical staff as assigned and performs technical support functions in a timely manner.

  • Demonstrates ability to organize and prioritize work with frequent interruptions as directed
  • Schedules patients as appropriate
  • Notifies COS and reception of scheduling changes
  • Maintains and coordinates patient flow to ensure efficient and expedient patient care transporting to and from the department as required
  • Promptly and accurately enters patient information into HIS system to ensure efficient patient throughout accurately completes all fields in the HIS STAR Radiology system, i.e. number of films repeated, contract reaction, exam data entry, start and stop times of exam
  • Seeks out PI projects that will benefit quality patient care
  • Demonstrates a practical problem solving approach to patient moving and handling issues.
  • Demonstrates skills to promote patient and staff safety through appropriate use of lift equipment.


Uses time, supplies and other resources productively to promote responsive and cost effective care.

  • Overtime used only when necessary
  • Uses slow time to work on additional tasks that will promote the efficiency of the department
  • Inventories supply closet and places orders as necessary
  • Prevents waste of supplies and linen
  • Performs area maintenance duties
  • Checks and observes equipment for general safety and contact Service Center to request repairs of equipment
  • Maintains clean work area, checks and stocks all supplies in their specific area and verifies pertinent accessories assigned to that room


Fulfills department mandatory education requirements and radiation guidelines.

  • Attends department/area meetings
  • Participates in meetings in order to maintain knowledge in policy/procedure updates
  • Adheres to radiation protection guidelines
  • Willingly adjusts to department scheduling needs
  • Willingly assists with areas not necessarily in the scope of the position
  • Maintains QA database for area

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $18.05per hour - $29.24per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
