Overview

Astrion is seeking a seasoned Chief Systems Engineer in the Melbourne, Florida area to support to the U.S. Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Command (SSC) S3, Assured Access to Space (AATS) AA3/5/8, and Assured Access (AAA).

In this key position, you will help enable the full spectrum of AATS mission areas capabilities to include Range, Space lift / Access; Servicing, Mobility, and Logistics (SML); Space/Launch Vehicle Research and Development (R&D); and the Space Rapid Capabilities Office (SpRCO) to empower warfighters worldwide.


  • Proficiency and experience applying systems engineering fundamentals and products to/for complex aerospace systems (preferably DoD space programs). Ideally, this includes experience in space launch range requirements development, mission communications, and configuration control.
  • Engineering experience with the Eastern and Western launch and test ranges.
  • Experience and expertise with Eastern/Western Range operations, maintenance, and sustainment including knowledge of range safety, environmental, communications, infrastructure, facilities, and launch operations.
  • The ability to leverage network of contacts at U.S. Space Force Field Commands and HQ to strategize with, and quickly and thoroughly meet short suspense taskings.
  • Familiarity and/or experience with Space Access, Mobility and Logistics concepts.
  • Experience in standing up new program / organizational structures and future funding involving Space Access, Mobility and Logistics (SAML), to include responsive space activities.
  • Experience in planning and scheduling of Space Vehicle processing management activities
  • Familiarity and/or experience with Congressional, legislative, legal, and national policy matters affecting Space Access, Mobility and Logistics, National Security Space Launch and Range-related matters.
  • Familiarity and/or experience with allied mission partners abroad. Experience in international affairs aspects of communicating technical documents and concepts
  • Familiarity and/or experience with special access program security involving ISSM and ISSO functions, facilities, equipment, and all security disciplines (PERSEC; INFOSEC; Physical Security; Security Education and Training Awareness)

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or relevant discipline and 16+ years of related experience (master's degree requires 14+ years) in technical program management, systems engineering, and acquisition within the areas of Space Launch, Space Control, and Reconnaissance
  • 5 years+ experience leading technical/engineering teams.
  • Qualified applicants must possess an active TS/SCI eligibility at contract start.
  • US citizenship required.
