This position reports to

Local President, US Traction

Your role and responsibilities

The Operations Manager oversees the operational aspects of the Mechanicsville, VA Motion Traction Unit, encompassing the full scope of Operations, including project management and control, project engineering, manufacturing, production engineering, maintenance, procurement, quality, continuous improvement, logistics, and planning and fulfillment, or a part of that. Ensures strict adherence within the Operations with respect to policies and required health, safety, and integrity standards.
The work model for the role is: onsite. #LI-Onsite
This role is contributing to the Motion Traction in Mechanicsville, VA.
You will be mainly accountable for:
*Responsible for developing business action plans for the unit(s), aligned with business ar-ea/division/product group strategy and targets.
*Monitors plan implementation and tracks any deviations for corrective action.
*Prepares annual budget, oversees progress, and determines measures to address cost-related issues as necessary, to manage operations within the allocated budget and resources.
*Ensures that the organization takes into account an overall value chain perspective to meet customer expectations as per agreed quality, service levels, and ead time.
*Ensures a thorough understanding and fosters a culture of continuous improvement behaviors, methodology, and processes within the organization.
*Assesses risks and safety hazards and implements plans to ensure people and equipment safety.
*Creates and maintains a positive work environment for ABB.
*Inspires, guides, motivates, and develops direct and indirect reports within HR policies.
*Builds effective, competent, and high-performing teams.

Qualifications for the role
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business administration, operations management or relevant experience and 8+ years of experience OR associate's degree and 10+ years of experience, OR HS Diploma and 12+ years of experience.
  • Track record of supervision, leadership and development of high performing, cross functional teams in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong strategic planning, problem-solving abilities and operational efficiency.
  • Experience with tracking and making decisions from KPIs and Metrics, with a focus on continu-ous improvement.
  • Proven experience in budget and performance management, strategy implementation, and da-ta analysis & reporting.
  • Experience with MS Office and SAP or similar ERP System.
  • Candidate must already possess a work authorization that would permit them to legally work for ABB in the United States.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Background in Power Electronics or Electronics Manufacturing.
