Job Summary

Responsible for the design development, implementation, monitoring and reposting of oncology quality programs intended to lower cost and improve patient care. Responsible for direct management of the Oncology Care Model (OCM) staff in the Cancer Institute. Initiatives allow the Cancer Institute to comply with standards, regulations, policies and procedures of certifying agencies or programs in Oncology. Key regulations include, but are not limited to ONS, TJC, CMS, ACoS, NAPBC, DHEC, ACR, ASTRO, NCCN, and ASCO.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for the review, update and development of oncology program accreditation, compliance, quality, and associated policies, procedures and guidelines in collaboration with oncology leadership. Reports information regarding updates, trends, opportunities and potential variances to leadership.

  • Responsible for management and oversight of the OCM program and staff in the Cancer Institute. Develops clinical care change initiatives intended to reduce cost and improve outcomes. Develops and facilitates the data collection process for required elements of the CMS OCM program as well as coordinating the data report. Works with the Epic build team to facilitate meeting required elements in reducing cost and improving care to Medicare OCM beneficiaries. Develops relationships with hospice and palliative care to increase the awareness and availability of these services for cancer patients. Participates with P&T committee to evaluate cost effectiveness of agents used in cancer care. Participates on the national level in OCM meetings.

  • Coordinates, facilitates and participates in survey preparation and activities related to audits, findings, action planning, follow up and communication with regulatory bodies. Performs as a liaison between oncology programs and regulatory bodies and committees.Conducts audits (on-site and otherwise), education and follow action plans routinely to ensure compliance. Works with department leadership and staff to ensure culture and team approach to quality and compliance initiatives. Works with other system support resources to optimize program success (i.e., Risk Management, Quality, Environment of Care, Clinical Engineering, etc.).

  • Participates in quality, compliance and other meetings, as appropriate or assigned. Acts as coordinator and/or facilitator as appropriate. Co-Chairs, coordinates and facilitates the Cancer Care Committee quarterly meetings; prepares, documents and distributes meeting agendas and minutes. Co-Chairs, coordinates and facilitates the Quality Improvement Sub-Committee, assisting Physician Quality Chair and leadership in the development of program goals, studies and quality improvements. Serves on the Joint Commission Steering Committee as a representative of Oncology Programs.

  • Acquires and maintains a working knowledge of all aspects of the oncology program including but not limited to, patient and departmental workflow, services provided, locations, organizational structure, key performance indicators, resources and support needs. Uses EHR and other systems to obtain information and reports required for success.

  • Manages, maintains, reports program data. Responsible for obtaining, analyzing, entering and maintaining accurate data and documentation in both the ACoC and NAPBC Survey Application Records (SAR), as well as other data management activities as assigned. Maintains all oncology quality and compliance related data in an organized and current manner. Monitors and reports on quality and compliance outcome trends utilizes outcomes data to identify and prioritize opportunities for clinical quality, patient safety and performance improvement that supports the mission of the oncology program. Prepares reports for presentation to the community, program leadership, Medical Staff (MSPIC) and other forums as requested.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Management Responsibility

  • Job has direct and/or indirect supervision of team members that may include final budget authority, hire/termination authority, performance appraisal responsibility and disciplinary authority. Job will be considered a member of management staff at Prisma Health Company or affiliate and will have direct reports.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education - Bachelor's degree in Nursing or other healthcare field of study. Master's degree preferred.

  • Experience - Five (5) years of experience with three (3) years of direct oncology clinical experience
