Job Profile Summary

This position performs assigned tasks to aid in the provision of patient care and daily operation of the department in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures. Patient care is provided under the direction of the Registered Nurse.

Job Description

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. High school diploma or equivalent (GED)

2. Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.

3. 1 year direct patient care experience

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. They are not intended to be constructed as an all-inclusive list of all responsibilities and duties. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Provides comfort, support and safety measures for inpatients, outpatients and significant others with consideration of the age specific needs of the population served.

2. Prepares both inpatients and outpatients for stress testing by applying electrodes and cable.

3. Performs EKGs on outpatients, preadmission patients, routine inpatients and others as requested.

4. Provides training in proper tracing requirement and download of information to the Muse system.

5. Assists in the pre and post operative cardiac areas.

6. Obtains vital signs accurately and timely as per departmental protocol with consideration to the age specific needs of the population served.

7. Monitors and downloads EKG tracings from multiple locations to assure tracings are read, filed, charged and distributed.

8. Completes administrative duties including, but not limited to, patient check in, ordering & restocking supplies, filing, distributing mail, and staff timecard management.

9. Clean patient equipment/rooms and maintain cleaning schedule for department.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Ability to multitask and independently problem solve.

2. Effective listening and processing of information

3. Experience in scheduling software (Kronos preferred)

4. Experience with Holter Monitors

5. Knowledge of medical terminology
