What the day will look like

  • Prepare and/or review Aon's 10-Q and 10-K SEC filings, 8-K earnings releases, Investor Relations earnings presentations, and Irish Consolidated Accounts, including populating footnote disclosures and completing tie-out review procedures
  • Coordinate with Corporate teams such as Legal, Tax, Treasury, FP&A, and Investor Relations to aggregate and analyze disclosure information
  • Attend quarterly regional balance sheet analytic meetings with global colleagues
  • Drive innovation and process improvements
  • Interact with external auditors on significant transactions or key accounting issues
  • Support external reporting team special projects (e.g. ESG reporting initiatives, NFP integration, implementation of new FASB standards or SEC regulations, other corporate initiatives, etc.).
  • Perform technical disclosure research and complete the quarterly disclosure checklist

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • 2+ years' experience in accounting
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to listen, consider alternative views, and solve complex problems
  • Strong project management skills, written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage daily responsibilities
  • Ability to identify process improvements opportunities
  • Ability to work, take ownership, and succeed in a rapidly changing environment

Preferred

  • Certified Public Accountant and/or MBA
  • Public accounting and audit experience
  • Experience and willingness to drive strategic accounting initiatives across a global organization
  • Strong knowledge of automated accounting and reporting systems, including experience with WorkDay and Wdesk

Pay Transparency Laws

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $75,000 - $85,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

The salary range reflected is based on a primary work location of Chicago, Illinois. The actual salary may vary for applicants in a different geographic location.

This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
