We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Functional Operations to lead the day-to-day operations of our Legal and Corporate Affairs department. This role is essential in ensuring the effective financial management, technology strategy, process optimization, and project management within the department. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in operational leadership, a keen understanding of legal processes, and the ability to drive efficiency and innovation.

This position is "office-flex", meaning that it is a hybrid of in-office (Conshohocken, PA) and remote work capabilities.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the direction of the VP, Legal and Corporate Affairs Operations, this role will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing the day-to-day operations of the Legal and Corporate Affairs department.

Financial Management

  • Oversee budgeting and resource allocation to optimize departmental expenditures and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Manage vendor relationships to ensure the delivery of high-quality services and products while maintaining cost-effectiveness.
  • Administer subscription management for legal tools and resources, ensuring accessibility and compliance.

Tech Strategy / Process Optimization

  • Lead tech enablement initiatives to enhance operational capabilities and support the department's strategic objectives.
  • Drive practice innovation through the implementation of best practices and new technologies that improve service delivery.
  • Oversee knowledge management efforts to ensure the preservation and accessibility of critical information and resources.
  • Identify and implement efficiency improvements to streamline operations and reduce redundancies.
  • Manage workflow automation projects to enhance productivity and accuracy across the department.
  • Conduct data analysis to inform decision-making and identify areas for improvement.

Project Management

  • Support enterprise initiatives ensuring successful execution and stakeholder engagement.
  • Provide comprehensive support to the Board, including the preparation of materials and facilitation of meetings.
  • Oversee the roll-out of functional initiatives, ensuring alignment with best practices and industry standards.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Legal Studies, or a related field; MBA preferred.
  • Proven experience in operational management within a legal or corporate environment with 8-10 years of experience preferred.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting and vendor management.
  • Proficiency in technology strategy, process optimization, and project management.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex projects.
