Role Overview

The Tufts University College Pre-College team is seeking an Instructor to teach College Prep 101 (CP101) as part of the Tufts College Experience (TCE) program.

The Instructor will be responsible for leading and facilitating CP101 sessions, which focus on preparing students for the college admissions process and college life. The Instructor will work closely with the Program Lead and the Pre-College team to deliver a high-quality, engaging, and supportive experience for students.

College Prep 101 sessions will take place on Fridays throughout the program. The TCE cohort runs for 6 weeks from June 30 to August 8, 2025.

Time Commitment Estimation

Program Planning:



  • Attend a brief training session
  • Review curriculum materials
  • Participate in program planning meetings
  • Estimated 10 hours, remote


Program Implementation:



  • TCE: June 30-August 8, 2025 (Fridays only)
  • Instructional Hours: Fridays, 9 am-3 pm (6 hours per Friday)

    • August 8, 2025


  • Instructors should plan for approximately 7-8 hours each Friday, including preparation, instruction, and wrap-up.


Compensation

The total compensation for this position, inclusive of all planning and instructional time, is $3,000.

Responsibilities



  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and respected
  • Lead and instruct a group of students in an in-person instructional setting, maintaining high standards for behavior and safety from June 30, 2025 through August 8, 2025
  • Assist students who are struggling with course content and provide proactive support
  • Serve as a positive adult role model through appropriate dress, speech, attitude, and conduct
  • Evaluate course daily and provide feedback on suggestions for improvement to the Pre-College Programs Team
  • Demonstrate reliability and punctuality by arriving on time for all scheduled activities
  • Monitor and report student attendance to ensure safety protocols are followed
  • Submit final grades in a timely manner in accordance with Tufts University deadlines
  • Other duties as needed

  • Ability to instruct students of varying skill and experience levels
  • Demonstrated flexibility, discretion, and a desire to support others
  • Experience working with students from diverse ethnic backgrounds, academic profiles, and skill levels
  • Strong interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), organizational, and customer service skills
  • Critical thinking skills and the ability to develop and operationalize processes
  • Excellent project management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Passion for learning and education


Program Introductions

Tufts College Experience (TCE): This is a 6-week immersive program designed to give students a full picture of college life: students live on campus, participate in social activities, and take two accelerated credit-bearing courses as well as a college prep seminar. Webpage.

College Prep 101 Hallmark: In this distinctive hallmark workshop, students are offered valuable insight into the college admissions process and prepare for the application, college life, and beyond. There will be two cohorts of College Prep 101: one for TCE and one for TCA. The program lead will be expected to be the point person and manage logistics, operations, and curriculum development of and operations of both cohorts.
