Overview

The sonographer performs general diagnostic ultrasound exams and related data for subsequent evaluation and treatment by the attending physician. You will perform all cardiac ultrasound (echocardiograms). This role also performs all routine vascular exams for evaluation of possible abnormal vascular defects or disease. Exams are digitally acquired, and measurements are obtained per each specific modality. The ultrasound tech ensures patient safety through the use of procedure protocols and policies. Takes call as needed.

Qualifications

    Associates Degree in related health science or graduate of an accredited program preferred in related field.
  • 1-5 years related experience.
  • New Mexico State Licensure under the New Mexico Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Program DMS, VS
  • Current BLS required.

  • 2 Sections of the following are required:
  • Diagnostic Medical Sonography
    • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer credential with one of the following specialties through ARDMS: Abdomen (AB), Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN), Breast (BR),
    • Pediatric Sonography (PS)
    • or Sonographer credential through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists: ARRT (S)
  • Cardiac Sonography
    • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer credential with one of the following specialties through ARDMS: Adult Echocardiography (AE), Pediatric Echocardiography (PE), Fetal Echocardiography (FE)
      or
    • Registered Cardiac Sonographer credential through Cardiovascular Credentialing International: (RCS)

  • Vascular Sonography
    • Registered Vascular Technologist credential through ARDMS: (RVT)
      or
    • Registered Vascular Specialist credential through Cardiovascular Credentialing International: (RVS)

    • or Vascular Sonography credential through American Registry of Radiologic Technologists: ARRT (VS)

  • Credentials:
    • Rad Tech-Radiography
    • NM Diagnositc Medical Sonography
    • Reg Diagnostic Med Sonographer
    • Reg Cardiovascular Inv Spec
    • Registered Vascular Technologist
    • Registered Vascular Specialist
