Posting Summary
Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Program Supervisor for the Medicine Department within New Jersey Medical School.

Under supervision, participates in the administration of a comprehensive TB Control program. The Program Supervisor is responsible for the administrative and field work necessary to attain program objectives of the Global Tuberculosis Institute, organizes office and field work to attain immediate and overall program objectives, identifies case-related public health problems and develops effective work methods. Supports a team.

Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  • Plays a lead role during congregate setting investigations by performing the investigation and conducting information/education sessions as required.
  • Supervises and assigns workloads for all TB cases, contact investigations, and inter-jurisdictional and immigration referrals to ensure effective prevention, treatment, and control of TB transmission.
  • Prepares and submits timely and accurate NJDOH surveillance forms, such as the TB70, TB41 and interjurisdictional reports as needed.
  • Reviews morbidity reports and laboratory findings of TB infection and disease.
  • Ensure out-patient directly observed therapy adherence utilizing either in-person or electronic means.
  • Maintains familiarity with current NJDOH regulations for the initiation of legal intervention as it relates to non-adherent patients.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience

  • Graduation from an accredited college with a bachelor's degree in public health, community health, or health sciences plus three (3) years of experience in a health or social services related program.
  • Equivalent education, experience, and/or training may be substituted for the educational requirements.

Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Individuals must be proficient in computer applications as required by the division.
  • Must possess confidentiality, accuracy and efficiency.
  • Is adept at communicating with colleagues, collating, presenting and summarizing data reports to colleagues, displaying excellent written, oral, and computer skills, including facile use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and an ability to use internet-based surveys and tools.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to communicate and interact effectively with individuals from diverse groups regardless of race, gender, age and or sexual orientation and members of underserved communities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in public health, community health or health sciences is preferred.
  • Previous experience with coordinating public health programs is preferred.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish/ Creole is preferred.
