Posting Summary
Rutgers School of Health Professions ( SHP) is seeking a Program Supervisor to work in the Physician Assistant Studies and Practice Department.

The Program Supervisor provides high-level, confidential administrative support to all PA Department leadership, including the Chair, PA Program Director, and HOPE Director. In addition to these responsibilities, the Program Supervisor will manage administrative functions, supervise the staff within the department, and liaise with the SHP Dean's Office and other central resources. The role also involves independently coordinating and managing projects to meet goals and timelines. To support quality outcomes, the Program Supervisor creates and maintains data collection systems, such as those required for ARC-PA accreditation. As part of ongoing operations, the Program Supervisor independently analyzes operations and recommends improvements that increases efficiency and improves the environment for faculty, staff, and students. Occasionally, the position requires evening or weekend work.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Independently coordinates and completes departmental projects, analyzes departmental data and produces reports, oversees and coordinates departmental events.
  • Manages and supervises the staff and performs tasks of those supervised when indicated. Maintains familiarity with each staff member's job functions to be able to mentor and assist with staff tasks as needed.
  • Updates and maintains administrative and program policies and procedures; identifies, investigates, and develops solutions to administrative inefficiencies. Ensures institutional and program policies and procedures are followed.
  • Responsible for the hiring, firing, developing, promoting, demoting, transfers and disciplinary action of assigned staff and provides recommendations to department leadership on additional staff positions.
  • Ensures staff are adequately trained to carry out their responsibilities and/or take on new responsibilities and adhere to compliance policies and procedures specific to their jobs.
  • Responsible for all aspects in the PA program budget and assists with departmental budget management.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree, Masters preferred, plus three (3) or more years of progressively more responsible professional experience inclusive of day-to-day operational and program management responsibilities in a business office, government agency or university setting.

  • Individual must be proficient in computer applications as required by the division.
  • Must possess confidentiality, accuracy and efficiency.
  • Adept at communicating with colleagues, display excellent written, oral, and computer skills, including facile use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and an ability to use internet-based surveys and tools.
  • Ability to work in a matrixed organizational structure; managing multiple supervisors and priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with clarity and accuracy.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Superior leadership and team-building skills.
  • Intermediate-advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Adobe Professional.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters preferred.
