Posting Summary |
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate for the department of Medicine at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
The lab of Dr. Xiaoyang Su at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, is seeking a postdoctoral research fellow to carry out studies related to solute carrier proteins and cellular metabolism. Su lab has a particular interest in LC-MS metabolomics and biochemistry. This position is available immediately. Expertise in biochemistry, mammalian cell culture and assay techniques, including IF,
FACS, siRNA, protein and nucleic acid chemistry, and background in biochemistry, cell biology or molecular biology is required. Knowledge in organic chemistry or analytical chemistry is strongly preferred. Strong communication skills and proficiency in spoken and written English is required. Salary will be commensurate with experience and follow
NIH and Rutgers guidelines.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Perform specialized research techniques and procedures related to research project.
- Keeps neat, thorough, and up-to-date records of procedures and experiments using paper and/or electronic platforms.
- Compile and analyze data with appropriate conclusions and plans for further investigation, publications, and grant applications. Will present data to PI and other lab members.
- Assist in the establishment of performance standards, as well as in the selection of research methodologies and instrumentation, and coordination of instrumentation and experimental approaches in support of research.
- Assist with the instruction and training of students, fellows, residents, and research assistants in laboratory techniques and concepts.
- Submits purchase recommendations to PI for analytic and preparative equipment, reagents, and laboratory operating supplies and enacts on purchasing decisions. Track and manage study budget, grant spending, and lab inventory.

Minimum Education and Experience |
- Researcher must hold a PhD degree in a relevant area of science such as Biochemistry, Cell Biology or Molecular Biology.
- Candidates in all but degree (ABD) status will also be considered.

- Strong publication record consistent with career stage.
- Must have strong oral and written communication skills; and ability to understand and proficiency in English to sufficiently perform the job duties.
- Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Proficiency in R or Python is greatly appreciated.
- Researcher must have the ability to work collaboratively and independently.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to work in a laboratory environment and to be able to interact with rodents.
- Must be able to perform laboratory research.
- Some lifting may be required (must be able to lift 20 lbs): laboratory items and/or boxes.
- Reading, walking, standing, sitting is required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Must pass employee health clearance, TB Test and required safety training.
- Must follow all safety precautions in laboratory, as required.
