Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Visiting Researcher for the department of Medicine at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

The Visiting Research Scholar will participate in clinical and translational cardiovascular research with a focus on advanced cardiac imaging in valvular heart disease ( VHD), cardiomyopathies, and coronary diseases. This position involves working with advanced image processing techniques, including radiomics feature extraction and machine learning, to develop diagnostic and prognostic tools from echocardiography, CT, and MRI datasets. The scholar will contribute to research studies aiming to improve patient stratification and outcome prediction in various cardiovascular pathologies listed above, working alongside cardiologists, imaging scientists, and data analysts. Key tasks include curating and preprocessing cardiac imaging and histopathological data, extracting and organizing radiomics datasets, statistical analysis, and writing scientific reports and publications.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Works under the direction of the principal investigator.
  • Process and analyze cardiac imaging data to extract quantitative imaging biomarkers.
  • Contribute to research utilizing radiomics based phenogrouping in VHD; collaborate with other team members; maintain accurate and detailed records of data collection & analysis procedures, results, and observations.
  • Must possess effective oral and written communication skills and ability to publish scientific research papers/articles and written reports and oral presentations. Incumbent is expected to contribute to scholarly activity to present research in high-impact publications, patent applications, and conference presentations.

Minimum Education and Experience
  • MS, MD or PhD in Medicine or related field.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Familiarity with cardiac imaging techniques such as echocardiography, CMR or CT.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology.

  • Physical Demands: Standing, sitting, walking, talking and hearing. No special vision requirements. Lifting up to 25 lbs.
  • Work Environment: Lab environment. Moderate noise. Exposure to blood, excrement, antineoplastic drugs and possible exposure to infectious and communicable diseases. Universal precautions are mandatory. Exposure to hazardous chemicals.
