Salary Range Starting at: $19.32 per hour

Job Description:

As our Family and Community Engagement Coordinator, you will support families and individuals in our community by addressing their physical needs, fostering personal growth, and providing spiritual guidance. You will manage a caseload of up to 10 individuals, delivering case management and care coordination to help residents achieve long-term self-sufficiency. In this role, you will plan, facilitate, and coordinate services and activities that promote spiritual vitality, healthy lifestyles, positive parenting, and meaningful recreational engagement-strengthening both individuals and families. You will also be responsible for planning and facilitating enrichment activities for children. Throughout all aspects of your work, you will foster a trauma-informed, client-centered environment that ensures the Mission of The Salvation Army is effectively carried out.

What You Will Do:



  • Conduct initial intakes to identify immediate needs and develop comprehensive assessments and individualized case plans within 24-72 hours of a client's admission.


  • Address Social Determinants of Health (e.g., housing stability, education, employment, health access).


  • Meet weekly with residents (caseload up to 10 individuals) to monitor progress, adjust case plans, and remove barriers.


  • Coordinate referrals and direct connections to internal and external support services.


  • Facilitate or coordinate life skills workshops including financial literacy, parenting skills, healthy living, and conflict resolution.


  • Represent the Salvation Army at community events, health fairs, and service provider meetings to identify and engage with potential clients and partner agencies.
  • Plan, oversee, and facilitate year-round programs and children's enrichment activities for residents of the WCC, Barton Apartments, and Carpenter Center, including the development and coordination of a summer camp.


  • Provide transportation support when necessary to ensure family participation in services and events.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and support volunteers in areas such as children's programs and community engagement activities.
  • Complete all required documentation in an accurate, timely manner using SIMS-Salvation Army Information Management System and Client Track and adhering to the National Social Services Standards.
  • Other tasks as assigned by leadership


Minimum Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.

Education: An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in social work, Early Childhood Education, or a related field is strongly preferred.


Background Checks
: Position requires a background check to be completed, and all background check results will be reviewed.

Experience: Prior work experience in a social setting providing services to persons in crisis; comfort and competence in providing spiritual care and ministry outreach.

Certifications: Must have a valid driver's license and maintain The Salvation Army Driver's qualification standard; must complete Safe From Harm training within the first 90 days of employment; must complete Caseworker Certification Program within 120 days of employment; CPR certification required within 90 days of hire date.

Skills/Abilities:



  • Able to speak, write and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with leadership, field personnel, and clientele.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft products and ability to learn electronic reporting systems.


Supervisory Responsibility: No supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Requirements Include:



  • Good speaking, hearing and vision ability, and excellent manual dexterity

Travel: Some traveling required.

Working Conditions: Work is performed in a typical office, residential environment; may require some weekend and evening work
