Student Services and Recruitment Coordinator

This position primarily manages the operations of the Student Services Office, provides direction to students seeking information about School of Education, coordinates recruitment initiatives, and supports advising and retention efforts.

Office Management | Student Services Office - 40%

Ensures the Student Services Office (SSO) functions in an inclusive, professional, and efficient manner by

  • Overseeing SSO Front Desk and Dean's Office coverage including organizing student employee schedules to ensure high-quality customer service is provided to a diverse student population, visitors, and SOE employees
  • Covering the SSO front desk
  • Ensuring phone calls and emails are answered promptly and professionally
  • Ensuring messaging in all formats is accessible, clear, and promotes student success by building upon the assets students bring to college
  • Ensuring advising appointments are scheduled efficiently
  • Assisting with scheduling professional advising appointments when needed
  • Hiring student employees for SSO and Dean's Office in collaboration with Dean's Assistant and Operations Coordinator
  • Supervising, training, and evaluating all student employees in collaboration with Dean's Assistant and Operations Coordinator
  • Ensuring all SSO materials are accessible based on current accessibility standards
  • Ensuring all SSO materials are aligned with our diversity, equity, and inclusion emphasis and SOE communication and branding standards
  • Developing and maintaining fluency in various computer applications
  • Providing support to faculty and staff for basic office functions, such as printing troubleshooting, access to rooms
  • Maintaining an office environment that is inclusive and welcoming to all
  • Liaising with financial aid and HR on behalf of student employees
  • Manages the hourly and work study student employment budgets in collaboration with SOE Financial Analyst

Student Recruitment Coordinator - 35%

Coordinates School of Education (SOE) student recruitment efforts and collaborates across programs and departments.

  • Develop and execute recruitment efforts to attract a diverse pool of students to the School of Education's teacher preparation programs, in collaboration with SOE leadership and stakeholders.
  • Foster relationships with high schools, community colleges, and community-based organizations to identify and support prospective students.
  • Act as a liaison between the School of Education and PK-12 schools, educational organizations, and stakeholders to strengthen recruitment pathways.
  • Works closely with SOE professional advisors and department chairs.

Student Advising and Retention Support - 20%

Supports student retention efforts by

  • Working with department chairs to collect, organize, and post SOE faculty office hours
  • Assisting with calling campaigns to retain current students
  • Providing responses to basic advising questions to a diverse student population
  • Referring students to appropriate University resources
  • Assisting with teaching students to use University advising and registration tools
  • Using University advising systems on a limited basis, such as Degree Progress Reports

Professional Development - 5%

As part of the annual goal, the employee will participate in professional development opportunities

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 2 years of general office or customer service experience
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Outlook, MS Word, and Excel
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Access to reliable transportation to recruitment events
  • Working both collaboratively and independently with minimal supervision

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in education or related field
  • At least 6 months of Higher Education work experience
  • Supervisory or leadership experience
  • Budget management experience
  • Experience with student information system such as Workday
  • Experience with implementing recruitment and retention strategies

Salary for Announcement

Under Colorado law, MSU Denver is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range takes into account a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.

The salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $48,000 - $50,000.The full salary range is $41,200- $61,800.

This position is paid monthly and is eligible for MSU Denver benefits.

Schedule Information

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week
  • Exempt
  • Days of the Week:Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm
  • Evenings and Weekend Work: As needed; some evenings and weekends are required as needed to support recruitment events.
  • Schedule:Hybrid schedule; on campus with the possibility of one remote day per week with approval from supervisor.
