What you'll be doing...

The Network Security Threat Intelligence team is responsible for proactive detection and investigation of threat actor activity within the Verizon network. Our analysts hunt for evidence of threat activity and work with network and security teams to improve detection capabilities and security controls. As a principal engineer in Network Threat Intelligence team, you'll be responsible for collecting and interpreting threat information, investigating and proactively hunting for threats, and serving as a technical leader within the team.

  • Identifying, evaluating, and driving new insights through an expert-level comprehension of Verizon's Networks and data analysis to proactively identify current and emerging threats.

  • Partnering internally and externally with vendors to provide leadership and review the design/implementation of our next-generation network.

  • Embracing agile methodologies and demonstrating an aptitude to adapt.

  • Leading the effort to transform the way we secure Verizon's Networks.

You'll need to have:
  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.

  • Six or more years of experience in the telco industry focused on technology.

  • Experience with application of data science concepts and techniques to enable advanced threat detection.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:
  • Master's degree in engineering or computer science.

  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple work assignments simultaneously.

  • Experience developing or consuming REST based web services.

  • Demonstrated strong critical thinking, problem solving abilities, and decision-making skills.

  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills including an ability to communicate complex information effectively.

  • Ability to lead technical discussions with a group of individuals in the industry with varying technical positions.

  • Ability to work well both independently and in diverse teams.

  • Strong proficiency with Splunk and/or Elastic Search.
