THE ROLE:

AMD is searching for a International Tax Sr. Manager to join the Tax Department in our Global Operations & U.S. Tax Compliance Team.

This role requires advanced technical expertise in U.S. Federal and International tax and the ability to take a risk-based approach to tax provision and compliance. The ideal candidate will be a proactive thinker who can navigate complex tax issues efficiently while continuously seeking process optimization. You will collaborate with local and global members of the Tax Department, including the shared services tax team in Malaysia, to support tax accounting, compliance, planning, and controversy.

As the International Tax Sr. Manager, you will utilize your deep technical knowledge and experience in different tax functions to "plug and play" as a key resource to the Tax Department. The ideal candidate must be highly proficient in ASC 740 and M&A tax accounting, with demonstrated experience in tax provision, purchase accounting, and post-acquisition integration.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and operationalize tax models for strategic tax planning, global tax provision, and compliance, including legal entity restructuring, GILTI, FDII, and Pillar 2.
  • Develop and implement risk-based tax strategies that align with the company's business objectives.
  • Optimize technology solutions to increase efficiency, reduce risk, and improve tax processes.
  • Execute strategies and drive the implementation of solutions related to U.S. federal and international taxation.
  • Manage the preparation and review of international tax calculations and tax returns, including GILTI, Subpart F, BEAT, withholding tax, and foreign tax credit computations, as well as review of Forms 5471 and 8858.
  • Evaluate business and corporate transactions, identifying tax risks and proposing effective solutions.
  • Assist with quarterly and annual worldwide income tax provisions for US GAAP and Non-GAAP reporting, including U.S. domestic and international tax.
  • Mentor and develop junior tax professionals, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with team members, business partners, external auditors, and advisors.
  • Stay updated on changes in U.S. International tax laws and their potential impact on the company.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors and tax advisors.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Deep experience in U.S. International tax within a combination of public accounting firm and in house corporate tax environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of U.S. International tax concepts, including Subpart F, GILTI, BEAT, withholding tax, foreign tax credits, and tax treaty analysis.
  • Deep proficiency in ASC 740 and M&A tax accounting, including hands-on experience with tax provision, purchase price accounting, and tax integration of acquisitions.
  • Working knowledge of IRS audit procedures and experience in audit IDR responses.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively in a high-pressure environment.
  • Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to take a risk-based approach to tax issues.
  • Strong project management abilities, attention to detail, and the capacity to offer alternative solutions to current processes.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities to effectively manage and develop a team.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting (or related) and/or Master's in tax, CPA a plus.
