JOB TYPE Classification: Exempt Supervises Positions: Yes JOB SUMMARY This position has responsibility for directing the infection prevention program for UVA Health Northern VA & Culpeper. Provides leadership and strategic direction in developing a culture of infection prevention in identifying opportunities and initiatives to reduce and prevent infections. Coordination amongsenior leaders, facility leaders, unit/practice managers, and operations and clinical support personnel will enhance system reliability and improve infection prevention processes and outcomes. These activities involve reporting, system and process evaluation, formulation of recommendations and initiatives, coordination of intervention strategies, and monitoring of activities related to infection prevention. This individual assumes responsibility, accountability, and authority for directing and facilitating an effective infection prevention program. Analysis: Analyzes processes and creates deliverables to provide information and recommendations for improvements.
Communication: Shares and receives information using clear oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Quality Improvement: Demonstrates involvement in the unit's annual and/or periodic assessment efforts, including efforts to improve the quality services.
Customer Service: Builds relationships and maintains strategic partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders.
Financial Management: Manages tasks and resources within the department to achieve quality and meet budget requirements.
The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Education: 4 Year/Bachelor's Degree required - BSN, Medical Technologist, RT, or other Healthcare related field. Formal training in Infection Prevention and Control/Epidemiology required. Experience: 3 years of experience in Infection Prevention and Control/Epidemiology required. 2 years ofleadership experience required. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details. Licensure: Certification by the National Certification Board of Infection Control required. Additional Skills/Requirements Required: Strong written and verbal communication skills; extensive infection control epidemiology knowledge and epidemiology knowledge; general data collection and analysis knowledge; general computer knowledge; ability to problem-solve and make decisions independently; ability to lead and function within a high-performing team; ability to travel throughout the UVA Health Northern VA & Culpeper footprint. Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred: Knowledge of departmental and UVA Health Northern VA & Culpeper computer system(s); knowledge of high reliability principles, healthcare operations, and healthcare quality improvement methodology. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Physical Demand Code: 3A, Administration Work Function/Activity: Sedentary to Light Physical Demand The job requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, and bending/stooping. Frequent repetitive body movements. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull up to 20 lbs. occasionally.
