ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES The Electrical, Instrumentation, and Automation Manager is responsible for the management and oversight of the electronic equipment owned and/or rented by the company. This position will manage the design, engineering, purchasing, installation, and repairs of all electrical/electronics, instrumentation, and automation equipment fleet wide for Callan Marine. This position reports directly to the VP of Technical
- Always maintain inventory of all pieces of electronic equipment and their locations.
- Manage and oversee the engineering, purchasing, repair and installation of all instrumentation and automation equipment fleet wide and in the office with dredge monitoring systems.
- Manage the full scope of automation and instrumentation upgrades to fleet equipment including budgeting proposals for upgrades, with full scopes of work with detailed pricing from start to completion.
- Maintain all equipment in good operating condition and ensure repairs are completed in a timely manner.
- Maintain weekly, monthly, and annual reports of inspections and repairs to all electronic instrumentation and automation equipment.
- Maintain inventory of spare parts.
- Requisition spare parts and supplies.
- Enforce safety rules and regulations regarding equipment condition and interface.
- Initiate corrective and preventative actions to ensure optimum performance and operation of instrumentation and automation equipment.
- Manage and maintain budget for instrumentation and automation division as allotted. Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Participates in Safety and Environmental initiatives that will contribute to compliance of State/Federal regulations and improve existing Company programs.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS The employee must have:
- Electronic Equipment management
- Supervision of staff and field techs.
- Strong electrical, programming, and knowledge of dredging operations
- Strong trouble shooting, diagnostics, and electronic repair.
- Good analytical skills
- Strong communicator, both verbal and written
- Strong mentoring skills
- Ability to work away from home at remote project locations for extended durations.
- Ability to obtain TWIC.
- Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors.
- Competencies: stress management/composure, teamwork, results driven.
PREFERRED SKILLS PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation. The individual must also be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required. This includes hard hat, safety glasses, life vest, respirators, ear plugs, steel toed shoes, personal flotation devices (PFD's), or other protective equipment as required by the work performed and location the work is being done. In addition, the employee must also be capable of:
- Walking, stepping, climbing, or otherwise moving from one location on the job site to another, which may be of varying heights and access parameters.
- Standing, stooping, twisting, bending, crouching, kneeling, squatting, climbing, or sitting repetitively and/or for long periods of time.
- Repetitive movements by feet, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands and back in performance of work.
- Must be able to lift and carry 30lbs individually. Anything greater than 30lbs and up to 60lbs will require additional lifting means.
- Must be able to push and pull at peak force of 150lbs.
- Climbing stairs and/or vertical ladders of a height of 6ft or greater.
- Adapting to temperature changes, outdoor conditions, and prolonged exposure to dusty, wet, or humid conditions, loud noises, and vibration.
