DMU is seeking a Development & Alumni Relations Associate to assist in providing overall administrative support to the department of Development & Alumni Relations. They will assist in the day-to-day operations of the department, including administrative support for staff, mailings, database updates and queries, accepting incoming calls and greeting visitors of the department. They will be able to set priorities, meet deadlines, and work both independently and as part of a highly motivated and fast-paced team. The Associate aids in planning, tracking and coordinating Development and Alumni Relations activities and events and is an important member of the team. This position is perfect for a professional looking to start a career in alumni relations, development or nonprofit management or continue a career in supporting a high functioning team of professionals.

What you'll do:

  • Provide general administrative support to Development & Alumni Relations staff. This includes: greeting and assisting external contacts; answering telephone calls or emails and providing information to constituents, scheduling appointments and meetings; ordering office supplies; handling incoming/outgoing mail, and typing/preparing correspondence and/or reports.
  • Interact with donors, alumni, alumni board members, DMU Board of Trustees, business and community leaders, and other constituencies in a professional manner.
  • Maintain accurate information on alumni, donors, and friends which will include updating the Raisers Edge database and conducting internal and external searches for updated information.
  • Maintain historical documents, files, etc. for Development & Alumni Relations department. Assist in preparation of monthly reports and data tracking systems.

What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Previous experience at a non-profit organization or university setting strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience with a CRM database strongly preferred (Raisers Edge).
  • Must be able to handle multiple high-priority tasks.
  • Must be able to work independently without supervision.
