*The range provided is based on cost of living/geography and what we believe is reasonable in the market at the time of posting. This role may be eligible for annual bonus and annual merit increase, as well as long term compensation. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors.

How You'll Perform the Role

The Senior HTS Database Analyst will support all operational and strategic aspects of Novolex's Office of International Trade Compliance (ITC). Reporting to the ITC Manager, the SITCA is responsible for assisting in the development, maintenance, and improvement of the ITC program, and providing informed guidance as a subject matter expert in the field. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of parts databases that house the product descriptions, product ID#s, HS classification, and so forth for 50,000+ SKUs across our companies. The essence of the role is ITC SKU management. In doing this, the SITCA will help ensure foundational compliance with U.S. and foreign customs authorities and partner government agencies (PGAs).

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities:



  • Create and maintain parts databases for Novolex & Pactiv Evergreen's various companies (imports, exports, and manufactured items). The database for each company will house data elements such as product description, SKU#/product ID, HS classification and rationale, FDA/CFIA product code determination, and so forth.
  • Classify products for import and export in accordance with HS and country guidelines.
  • Determine PGA applicability and associated information, such as FDA product codes.
  • Determine country of origin.
  • Support Procurement's project to develop a taxonomy of all purchased goods and their attributes
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining relevant processes and procedures, enabling consistent handling of issues as well as broad company awareness to these requirements.
  • Provide training to colleagues as opportunities arise.
  • Utilize knowledge to continuously identify potential areas of risk, development, savings, and improvement. Escalate to team management as appropriate.
  • Perform regulatory research and incorporate learnings into ITC procedures as appropriate.
  • Build and strengthen the connection with internal teams and service providers.


Assist with other compliance activities and special projects as assigned.


What We Need From You

  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Highly organized
  • Strong database skills
  • Experience working with multiple systems and/or ERPs
  • Intermediate/advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, functions, and equations
  • Expertise with HS classification. Strong knowledge of import/export regulations, free trade agreements (FTAs), country of origin (COO), AD/CVD, and Partner Government Agency (PGA) requirements
  • Above average expertise with Microsoft business software (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Power BI).
  • Strong time management & prioritization skills
  • Strong project management capabilities
  • Ability to work independently, with good judgement to know when to escalate
  • 5+ years' experience with International Trade Compliance in a corporate setting, and/or other import/export competencies such as with a customs broker
  • Working knowledge of U.S. Customs procedures & trade practices; proven ability to interpret regulations
  • Ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner to leadership, internal and external partners, both verbally and in writing. Strong technical writing skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills; ability to improve and simplify current processes and practices
  • Excellent customer service skills with a strong emphasis on team collaboration and diplomatic communication
  • Bachelor of Science degree preferred, e.g., Data Science, Database Management, Information Systems, Statistics, Computer Science, International Business, International Transportation and Logistics, International Trade, Business Analytics, Engineering, Library Sciences. Experience in lieu of a degree will be considered.
  • Licensed Customs Broker preferred.
