Organic Chemistry Lecturer

Teach one section of Chemistry 343 - Organic Chemistry

Chem 343 is a 3-credit course on th principles of molecular structure and bonding applied to predict and explain the reactivity of alkanes, alkenes, alkynes, alkyl halides, alcohols, and thiols. Emphasis is placed on rationalizing the stereochemical and regiochemical outcome of chemical processes.

Duties include:
- Preparing course materials
- Presenting lectures
- Preparing, administering, and grading exams and homework
- Holding office hours
- Other related duties

One section is a 50% appointment.

• 80% Facilitates classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses, including assessment of student performance
• 10% Develops instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course of instruction
• 10% Serves as an initial point of contact for students as it relates to specific course or series content and expectations

Required
PhD in chemistry or related field.

Previous experience teaching chemistry at the college/university level preferred.

Part Time: 50%

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Terminal, 4 month appointment.
This position has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding

Minimum $50,000 ACADEMIC (9 months)
Depending on Qualifications
The minimum salary for a full time (100%) position for an academic year (9 months) is $50,000. The salary for this fall semester position will be prorated based on the appointment duration and percentage.

There is a possibility this position could be extended in subsequent semesters to teach Chem 343 or similar courses within the department. This position may become renewable if there is a need for an ongoing appointment.
