Hours

  • 8:00 am - 5:00 pm (Mon-Fri) Various Locations: 2 days Palatine, 2 days Franklin, 1 day remote

Compensation

At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members, and we are committed to transparency in our pay practices. The estimated annual base salary range for this position is $69,740 - $89,082.40. Individual pay within this salary range is determined by several compensable factors, including performance, knowledge, job-related skills and experience, and relevant education or training. This role is also eligible for S&C's annual incentive plan (AIP), subject to eligibility criteria.

Join Our Team as a Human Resources Generalist!

The Human Resources function is pivotal in aligning strategic human resources expertise with S&C's business needs. Serving as a strategic partner to the business, the HR Generalist function collaborates with leaders to shape HR strategies, focusing on talent management, workforce planning, and organizational development. Simultaneously, the department prioritizes a forward-thinking approach to employee relations, proactively engaging with employees and management to address issues, ensuring fair resolutions, and fostering a positive work environment. With a commitment to enhancing the overall employee experience, the HR department plays a central role in driving organizational success.

The Human Resources Generalist helps to align S&C's people strategy with its business strategy. They work to support the unique needs of the S&C locations they support and provide advice through new and innovative HR ideas that support the business's overall objectives. Together with line managers, the Human Resources Generalist provides support for a full range of HR functions, from talent acquisition to enablement to consultancy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all HR-related inquiries, concerns, and requests from team members and management at the assigned location.
  • Partner with the Centers of Excellence (COE) functions to manage Recruitment, Performance Management and Compensation tasks. Partner with TA in all recruitment and selection activities for all positions at the assigned locations, including determining job needs, meeting with hiring managers, phone screening, interview scheduling, and onboarding. Partner with Talent Enablement to manage onboarding, training, performance management tasks. Partner with Total Rewards to manage Compensation and benefits tasks.
  • Provide guidance and support to managers and team members on team member relations matters, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and performance management.
  • Coordinate and manage onboarding process ensuring a seamless and engaging experience for new hires.
  • Manage off-boarding process, including exit interviews, asset returns and compliance documentation.
  • Coordinate training, and development initiatives to enhance team member skills and performance, including identifying training needs and organizing training sessions.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date HR records and team member files, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and company policies.
  • Review and analyze business metrics, including data on retention and employee experience, to recommend systemic improvements. Report on key metrics to both HR and functional leaders.
  • Foster a culture of open communication and transparency.
  • Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules.

What you'll Need To Succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, or a related field.
  • 2-3 years of demonstrated experience in a generalist HR role with at least part of that experience supporting a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with business leaders in developing and executing strategic talent initiatives aligned with function's goals.
  • Demonstrated experience in full-cycle recruiting, including experience in all major activities from job needs analysis to onboarding.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting investigations and recommending solutions for team member complaints, unfair treatment, harassment, and discrimination.
  • Strong consultative skills with the ability to identify underlying organizational issues, assess their impact on team member performance and morale, and formulate targeted solutions to address these challenges effectively.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex HR concepts in a clear and concise manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interview, facilitate, and collaborate with diverse subject matter experts and stakeholders, including leadership.
  • Good organizational and project management skills with the ability to support multiple client groups simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with DEI principles and experience contributing to initiatives that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint) HRIS and applicant tracking systems
  • Thorough understanding of employment laws, HR policies, and compliance with Employment Standards, Human Rights, and other regulatory requirements.

Preferred:

  • Graduate-level degree in Human Resources, or a related field.
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR).
  • Fluency in an additional language, particularly Spanish.
  • Experience with Oracle HCM HRIS.
  • Experience in succession planning, workforce planning, and talent development to ensure a pipeline of key talent for critical roles.
  • Experience delivering HR services and project management in a lean manufacturing environment is preferred.
