Tremco Construction Products Group brings together Tremco CPG Inc.'s Commercial Sealants & Waterproofing and Roofing & Building Maintenance divisions; Tremco Barrier Solutions Inc.; Dryvit, Nudura and Willseal brands; Prebuck LLC; Weatherproofing Technologies, Inc.; Weatherproofing Technologies Canada and PureAir Control Services, Inc. Altogether, Tremco CPG companies operate 21 manufacturing facilities, 6 distribution sites, and 3 R&D/technology sites, and employ more than 2,700 people across North America.

GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The Sealants R&D team intern will plan and perform formulation trials and product testing for hybrid and silicone sealants. The intern will execute testing protocols to measure product performance against industry and customer requirements as well as provide insights to aid the development of new sealant products. After the required safety training the intern will spend majority of their time in lab to complete the assigned tasks related to product development projects. The intern will have ample opportunity to improve their work experience through planning their own experiments based on initial outcomes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Conduct formulation experiments and testing of formulated products.


  • Perform analysis of the experimental data to arrive at conclusions.


  • Utilize in-house analytical tools to perform measurements.


  • Communicate findings and recommendations clearly and concisely to the sealants team.


  • Collaborate with chemists in sealants team and across other R&D teams for next-generation products.


  • Participate in team, departmental and safety meetings.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:



  • Enrolled in a Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university, in any of the physical sciences or engineering.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:



  • No prior experience or training.

OTHER SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Data acquisition, statistical analysis and presentation.


  • Organized, methodical problem-solving and critical thinking.


  • Strong written and spoken communication skills to communicate data-based conclusion .


  • Microsoft Office, especially Excel.


  • Experience in the building & construction a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Incumbent must be able to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, talk, hear, and lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally.

BENEFITS AND COMPENSATION:

The hourly rate for applicants in this position generally start at $18 per hour and increases based on college level, previous experience, and prior internships with Tremco or other RPM businesses.
