Job Summary:

The purpose of the Mentor & Training Coordinator role is to manage the overall training for the facility, help new employees absorb our organization's cultural and social norms, and lead new employees to fully embrace safe, quality, and compliant working practices and processes. This role embraces constructive confrontation, encouragement and motivation to help team members achieve their potential. The Mentor & Training Coordinator facilitates the Portland Plant's training needs with an organized and compliant structure. This position reports to Plant HR Manager.

Required Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Proficiency in English
  • Basic proficiency in or ability to learn computer software programs e.g. Microsoft 365 suite, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, training database, etc.
  • Previous development and delivery experience of training materials

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • 2 (two) years of experience in manufacturing preferred.
  • 1 (one) year previous experience in a training role preferred.
  • General knowledge of extrusion, paint, anodizing, and packing operations preferred
  • Communications proficiency in Spanish or Vietnamese preferred

Job Responsibilities:

  • Actively contribute to the creation of a safe, secure, and healthy working environment and to the achievement of the Company's environmental obligations and goals.
  • Lead or assist in training, including maintaining accurate training records and validation of training proficiency levels with any designated trainers.
  • Coordinate training events between internal/external trainers and the target trainees' management, including scheduling of training events as applicable.
  • Accurate maintenance of training systems, with confidentiality maintenance of sensitive information such as personal data.
  • Facilitate the formal new hire onboarding process.
  • Ensure new hires are aware of and follow our "Code of Conduct" and any established behavioral standards.
  • Serve as a positive role model, modeling desired behavior, e.g. professionalism, positive can-do attitude, speaking up, being an initiator, patience, respectfulness, and tolerance.
  • Attend HR mentor update meetings to help facilitate the Hydro mentorship program.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve competency and training retention.
  • Other duties as assigned.
