Work includes reviewing program requirements, evaluating criteria used to make eligibility decisions, researching program activities and recommending enhancements, developing programs and/or special events, serving as a program or community liaison, monitoring regulations and funding, and as assigned, serving as a lead worker, assigning and monitoring the work of others and may supervise assigned nonexempt staff. This position may serve as students' primary advocate to ensure educational goals are attained. Essential Functions 45% - Implements, manages, awards students and evaluates programs, which include college, state, federal Title IV programs in compliance with all relevant regulations; provides oversight and supervision of part-time or full-time staff including quality control of staff's work. Serves as a liaison to the external and internal partners; works with college Fiscal staff concerning student awards and balances; serves as liaison for the institution in regards to financial aid issues and questions; serves as a subject matter expert for federal programs and administrative responsibilities; monitors fund balances, disbursements, adjustments and year-end reconciliation and operational procedures. 25% - Responds to inquiries and requests from students, parents, donors and staff in person, in writing or by telephone regarding eligibility and awards; advises students and parents on questions related to scholarships, Title IV financial aid eligibility (including financial aid methodology, disbursement of aid, cost of attendance, expected family contribution and aid eligibility requirements); monitors continued eligibility, analyzes and determines student satisfactory academic progress (SAP); develops, coordinates and facilitates the logistics of financial aid trainings, meetings, programs/special events and workshops for current and prospective students on campus and in the community. 15% Continue to work with other specialized departments: Student Affairs Departments, and faculty with talent waivers, Honors, bookstore scholarships, emergency scholarships, Mesa Promise Grant, and early college and Maricopa grant programs. 15% Assist financial aid in awarding, reports, working the front counter and/or virtual front counter, and student service specialist assignments as needed. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution and two years of student services or college teaching experience, or experience coordinating, administering, planning, or evaluating programs. OR An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation. Desired Qualifications 1. At least 1 year experience managing a scholarship program 2. At least 1 year experience working with Title IV federal finanical aid programs 3. At least 1 year experience working in a community college setting 4. At least 1 year experience giving presentations to large and small groups 5. At least 1 year experience working on an outreach program for students and/or the community Special Working Conditions Applicants must be in good standing with all U.S. Department of Education Federal Student Aid programs and eligible to access federal websites required to perform job duties.
