The Position

Processes and verifies student financial aid applications; creates and awards student financial aid packages in accordance with established policies, procedures, regulations, and guidelines. Under the direction of an appropriate level manager or administrator, leads, oversees, and participates in the most complex and difficult work of the team that involves providing financial aid assistance and suggesting available options for students. Classification: Non-Affiliated Hourly Staff Duration: Full Time 12 months

What You Will Do
-
- Participate in leading the daily operation and workflow of the Financial Aid Office; perform complex Financial Aid duties such as Return of Title IV.
- Assist and advise students applying for Veterans benefits, federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs, and the process for applying for financial aid; research available options and sources; discuss various eligibility criteria and explains ineligibility as necessary; interpret and explain the Federal and State financial aid policies and procedures.
- Read, interpret, and administer federal and state regulations and school policies as they apply to financial aid; participate in the annual audit.
- Transmit a variety of grants, loans, and other financial aid for disbursement to students; ensure the correct amount is posted to each student's account.
- Follow federal guidelines as it relates to the Department of Education COD (Common Origination and Disbursement) records to ensure an adequate Pell funding level for students for the college; report to and reconcile with the Department of Education Pell Grant dollars disbursed to students; resolve conflicts with student COD records.
- Transmit for post-withdrawal disbursements while maintaining compliance with all federal and institutional regulations.
- Collaborate with, and maintain extensive communication with, a variety of college support and academic services.
- Conduct Financial Aid presentations for current students, prospective students, parents, and other groups.
- Use College, State, and Federal regulations, policies, and procedures to provide accurate information and services to students and others; research and interpret regulations for Federal, State, and institutional financial aid programs; maintain current knowledge and stay up to date on program requirements and changes to financial aid services and options for students.
- Participate in the coordination and planning of, and attend, various community relations and outreach activities targeted at new or returning students and/or potential students; represent the College at on- and off-campus meetings, conferences, community events, and high school career and college fairs; assist in the distribution of promotional and marketing materials related to financial aid.

The Successful Candidate Must Have
-
1. Associate's Degree required with three (3) years of directly related experience. 2. In lieu of full experience requirement, a Bachelor's degree and one (1) year of directly related experience will be considered. 3. Directly related experience in a busy post-secondary academic environment with high volume student service tasks and inquiries requiring problem-solving and/or prioritizing skills and knowledge of federal and state regulations. 4. Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and prior database experience; ability to create standard reports.

1. Financial Aid experience in a higher education setting. 2. Experience with a student database such as Ellucian Colleague or Banner. 3. Prior experience and knowledge of a digital imaging system.
