Major/Essential Functions


  1. Serve as the lead audio and video engineer for student and faculty recitals, major ensembles, and special events, both on and off campus. Responsibilities include setup, live mixing, recording, live streaming, tear down of equipment, and post-production, including editing, mixing, and mastering of audio and video content.
  2. Collaborate with the Director of Media Production to assess and recommend technical requirements for School of Music events requiring audio, video, and AV support.
  3. Manage and maintain all audio, video, and AV systems and equipment owned by the School of Music, ensuring up-to-date inventory and organization.
  4. Provide ongoing AV support and troubleshooting for events and classroom or studio systems.
  5. Maintain an organized archive of all event recordings, ensuring timely delivery to clients.
  6. Supervise and train student workers in audio, video, and AV production techniques and protocols.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree plus three years supervisory experience; OR a combination of education and/or supervisory experience to equal seven years.

Preferred Qualifications


  1. Graduate degree in music, music technology, or a closely related field.
  2. Advanced expertise in classical music sound recording and post-production, with proficiency in DAWs such as Pyramix, Sequoia, Pro Tools, and/or Nuendo.
  3. Proficiency in professional video production, using multicam settings with a video switcher, editing, and color grading using DaVinci Resolve Studio.
  4. Experience with live-streaming platforms, especially OBS and Vimeo.
  5. Dante Certification Level 3, and strong understanding of IP networking for AV protocols.
  6. Ability to read, follow, and detect differences in complex musical scores and actual performances, making notes during recording sessions.
  7. Exceptional organizational and scheduling skills.
  8. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to delegate effectively and provide excellent client service.
  9. Self-motivated with a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
