Job Description

Summary
The Division of Student Affairs serves Mizzou's student population by creating transformative experiences and opportunities for belonging on campus. We are committed to facilitating exceptional co-curricular experiences to help all Mizzou students succeed on campus and after graduation.

As part of this commitment, the Center for Student Involvement is seeking a collaborative, student-centered professional to fill the role of Coordinator for Student Involvement. This position will serve as the primary advisor for programs and services associated with the Involvement Ambassadors. These services include, but are not limited to, one-on-one involvement consultations, co-curricular mapping, involvement presentations, and campus outreach efforts. This position is responsible for hiring, training, and supervising approximately 18 student employees. Additionally, this role supports the integration of leadership development and high-impact learning within involvement programming. The Coordinator will help foster a student-centered environment that promotes learning, leadership, sense of belonging, and engagement with the broader Mizzou community.

This full-time professional staff position will report directly to the Assistant Director of Leadership Programs.

Essential Functions

The position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

  • Advise, mentor, and support Involvement Ambassador student leaders through one-on-one meetings and group facilitation.
  • Lead the development and implementation of co-curricular mapping tools that track the progressive development of student learning and transferable skills.
  • Oversee the design, delivery, and assessment of peer-to-peer consultations and presentations that utilize a student development and leadership-based framework.
  • Integrate leadership development outcomes into programming and consultations, aligning with institutional leadership initiatives and the Division's T.I.G.E.R.S. learning framework
  • Utilize assessment tools and data (e.g., NSSE, student intake surveys) to evaluate program effectiveness and improve engagement strategies.
  • Coordinate monthly communication reports on student involvement trends and data for campus partners.
  • Support university-wide efforts to incorporate High-Impact Practices (HIPs) through peer engagement and experiential learning.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with campus departments such as the MU Career Center, Undergraduate Research, Trulaske EDGE, and others to support co-curricular learning.
  • Create and distribute a monthly newsletter highlighting involvement opportunities and leadership events.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to fostering community and belonging, ensuring efforts meet the needs of Mizzou's student body. Hire, train, and provide supervision to a team of student employees. Manage payroll and scheduling for approximately 18 student employees.
  • Contribute to departmental events such as Welcome Week, Fall and Winter Involvement Weeks, and broader involvement initiatives.
  • Assist with divisional assessment efforts that measure student learning, engagement, and sense of belonging.
  • Serve on departmental and divisional committees as assigned.
  • Provide input on and implement an assigned budget to deliver maximum student impact.
  • Perform other duties to enhance and maintain the mission of the Center for Student Involvement and the Division of Student Affairs.
Shift

8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday (40 hours per week)

This position may require evening and weekend hours supporting activities and programs within the department. Occasionally division and campus projects may require additional hours outside of your normal schedule.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Educational Leadership, Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Backgrounds in Communication, Organizational Leadership, or Human Development and Family Science are also valuable due to the advising, training, and student engagement focus of the role
  • Must possess a philosophy of student development and the ability to problem-solve.
  • Be highly creative and possess energy and enthusiasm to elicit the support and participation of students.
  • Have a positive and friendly disposition, possess flexibility, and effective communication skills
  • Can take the initiative to work independently.
  • Be available to work evenings and weekends and be a team player.
Anticipated Hiring Range

Range: $18.50/hour - $22.25/hour
GGS/PAT Level: 008
