Job Description

Leads a peer-run mental health program focused on empowering individuals in their recovery journey. Manages daily operations, including hiring and supervising staff, budgeting, ensuring safety, promoting services, and maintaining quality standards. Actively connects with participants through group activities, one-on-one support, and educational sessions to build confidence, life skills, and promote long-term healing and recovery.

What You'll Do:

  • Support and mentor people facing mental health challenges, substance use, homelessness, or big life changes - using your own lived experience.

  • Build trusting, respectful relationships with library visitors and have meaningful conversations focused on hope and recovery.

  • Work closely with library staff and social workers to connect patrons with the help they need.

  • Guide people to local resources like housing, food, jobs, and health care, and assist them in accessing these services.

  • Lead or co-lead support groups and wellness workshops in the library.

  • Speak up for patrons and help them navigate complex support systems.

  • Keep clear, confidential records as needed.

  • Take part in regular training, team meetings, and supervision.

  • Be a living example of resilience, wellness, and recovery.

What We're Looking For:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience - 2 years of related work for each year of education).

  • At least 2 years of experience working with individuals living with mental illness or other disabilities.

  • Proven leadership skills and ability to manage a team.

  • Strong organizational and management abilities.

  • Clear, effective communicator - both spoken and written.

  • Collaborative and solution-focused - able to bring people together to plan and problem-solve.

  • Compassionate and responsive to the needs of those you serve.

  • Fluent in spoken and written English.

  • Willing to complete required training on time as directed by supervisors.

  • If the role involves driving, must meet and maintain all fleet safety requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree.

  • Personal experience with mental health recovery.
