Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement

The Assistant Director of Alumni Relations is responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing alumni engagement through clubs, affinity groups, and high-impact volunteer programs. This position fosters meaningful connections between alumni and the university by managing alumni-led initiatives such as mentoring programs and admissions ambassadors, supporting the institution's enrollment, career development, and community-building efforts.

Alumni Clubs & Affinity Groups (50%)

  • Develop and implement strategies to establish, support, and grow regional alumni clubs, academic-based and identity-based affinity groups.
  • Provide leadership, training, and resources to volunteer alumni leaders to enhance engagement and program effectiveness.
  • Organize in-person and virtual events in collaboration with alumni groups to increase participation and strengthen alumni networks.
  • Track engagement metrics and assess program impact to ensure long-term sustainability.

High-Impact Volunteer Activities (30%)

  • Oversee and expand alumni mentoring initiatives using the Upnotch platform, connecting alumni with students and recent graduates for career guidance and networking opportunities.
  • Lead the admissions ambassador program, recruiting and training alumni volunteers to support student recruitment efforts through outreach, events, and referrals.
  • Develop additional high-impact volunteer opportunities that align with institutional priorities and alumni interests.
  • Partner with campus stakeholders to identify meaningful ways for alumni to contribute to university initiatives.

Program Administration & Strategic Partnerships (10%)

  • Collaborate with internal departments, including Classroom to Career Hub, Admissions, and Student Affairs, to create seamless engagement pathways for alumni.
  • Develop marketing and communication strategies to promote alumni engagement opportunities, working closely with the communications team.
  • Prepare reports and assessments on engagement trends and program success to inform strategic planning efforts.

Other Duties as Assigned (10%)

  • Support special projects and initiatives that align with the university's alumni engagement strategy.
  • Assist in event planning and execution for key alumni programs.
  • Contribute to cross-functional team efforts within University Advancement.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook).
  • Experience with program development.
  • Experience using constituent management databases.

Preferred Qualification

  • Three years of related program development experience.
  • Ability to work independently, handle matters confidentially, solve problems, and make decisions appropriate to the position.
  • Must be detail-oriented, organized and able to manage multiple tasks at one time.
  • Must be able to interact positively with a wide range of people within the University and with external audiences.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Schedule Information
Full-time, 40 hours per week
Exempt
Days of the Week: Mon - Fri
Evenings and Weekend Work: As needed
Schedule: Hybrid schedule
Travel: Rarely

Salary for Announcement
Under Colorado law, MSU Denver is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range takes into account a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.

The salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $54,900.00- $64,000.00

This position is paid monthly and is eligible for MSU Denver benefits.
