BFT - Professional Program Coordinator

Dr. Liron Bar-Peled is looking for a part time (up to 20 hours) program coordinator. Dr. Bar-Peled is a faculty member at the Krantz Family Center for Cancer Research at the Mass General Cancer Center. Research in his laboratory focuses on understanding how cancer cells respond to altered metabolic states.
Performs a wide range of highly diverse assignments of a confidential nature. Directly supports Dr. Bar-Peled and his research lab; and interacts with internal and external sources at the executive level requiring skill, tact, and/or influence. Works closely with other administrative functions and roles.
Essential Functions
*Supports Dr. Bar-Peled in the areas of calendar management, travel & expenses and other business-related matters
*Screens candidates for open roles in the lab
*Collaborates closely with other administrators in the Krantz Center, and onboarding coordinators to ensure seamless new hire process
*Performs a variety of routine office duties involving meeting/travel arrangements, planning and execution of either on or offsite department meetings, processing expense reports, laboratory event planning (e.g., off sites, team building, group meetings), data entry, vendor management etc.
*Directs administrative activities, develops and organizes procedures, and uses considerable written and verbal communication skills to represent the lab
*Provides project management support of new and continuing initiatives
*Functions autonomously, exercise discretion and judgment and works independently on a variety of complex and diversified assignment
*Ensures company procedures are followed and directs questions accordingly
*Handles correspondence and requests for information and may make decisions on behalf of the PI
*Independently researches and develops reports and budgets for events and activities; draws conclusions and makes recommendations to executive and/or administrative group
*Performs duties that are both task and project oriented requiring interpretation and judgment
*Performs other clerical/administrative and support duties as needed
*Plans and prepares communications requiring skill, tact, persuasion, and/or negotiation to accomplish the objectives of the communication

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent with 2 - 4 years of related experience
  • Ability to work independently
  • Superior organizational skills, attention to detail, and high reliability required.
  • Strong communications skills - both written and verbal
  • Ability to prioritize work and multi-task
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment in dealing with confidential and time-sensitive matters
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving and attentiveness to detail required
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Must be self-motivated and comfortable working independently while interacting with a variety of staff at many levels.
  • Proficiency with Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with physician and non-physician staff
  • Experience in a research setting preferred
  • Exceptional proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Google Suite (Google Calendar and Google Drive) and must be comfortable learning new software and technology
