POSITION SUMMARY The main role of the Event Operations Assistant Intern is to assist with the production of Snowshoe Mountain's Summer Events and Activities offerings. ESSENTIAL DUTIES This position is responsible for the following "results": Supports the Events team by assisting with all aspects of Events programming. Aids with planning and implementing action plans associated with all scheduled summer events. Responsible for ideating, pitching, planning and executing one (1) event for summer and establishing all action plans and implementation associated with ensuring a successful event. Takes full management of our Event Vendor program, including sourcing vendors, developing maps and location resource needs, collection of contracts, collection of SMI and coordinating agencies payments as needed, internal departments and external partner communications to provide support for Vendors (water, power, etc), load-in and load-out schedules and services, and enforcing SMI quality standards on Vendor activations. Aids in organizing and managing event activities and activation as needed. Assists in working with Marketing department on various marketing products and channel assets to ensure success of all Events programming and third-party marketing needs. Aids marketing, events, operations, food and beverage, lodging, and other business units in carrying out their duties relating to the event. Supports Events management with general responsibilities throughout the summer. Supports Activities department with attendant duties as needed. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Education: Must be actively enrolled in an accredited college or university. Experience: Must have completed at least 60 credit hours with an accredited college or university. QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS Must have office and organizational skills. TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS Any Alterra employee or intern who operates a company vehicle including cars, trucks, ATV's, UTV's snowcats, snowmobiles, or heavy equipment is required to comply with the Alterra Driver's Standards Policy. This policy also applies to employees or interns driving their personal vehicles for company business more than four times per month, averaging 30+ miles per trip. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS This position may be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays. Office Environment: Able to lift, carry, or otherwise move and position a minimum of 50 pounds on an occasional basis. Able to Mountain bike, ski or snowboard at an intermediate level. Manual dexterity to operate a computer and other common office equipment on a constant basis. Auditory and visual acuity to operate computers, phones, mobile devices and basic office equipment on a constant basis. Ability to work for extended periods of time standing, walking, kneeling, pushing and pulling on an occasional basis. Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests and other employees. Mountain Environment: This position works in the outdoors with a high exposure level to cold, snow, wind, rain, bugs, sun, high altitude, extreme heights, lightning, etc. The degree of strenuous activity within the position is high. Often lifting a weight of 50 pounds throughout the day is common. Additional strenuous physical activity may include walking or hiking upon uneven, challenging terrain with heavy tools or equipment. Exposure to chemicals required for cleaning, de-greasing, and painting. Exposure to Ultra Violet radiation from the sun, enhanced through lack of atmospheric filtration at work altitude. Fumes produced in activities ranging from cleaning to painting to fabrication of metal products. Noise generated by vehicles, music, lift equipment, and tools may require hearing protection to be worn. Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees. Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
