The Office of Administration is offering a rewarding internship opportunity encompassing a diverse array of responsibilities, including Linux and Microsoft Windows Server administration, server hardware and software support, virtualization, orchestration, system monitoring, and event management within the Infrastructure and Economic Delivery Center. Reporting directly to the Compute Infrastructure Manager, this position serves as a vital link between various teams supporting the agency, delivery center, enterprise applications, and infrastructure. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Through this internship, you will have the opportunity to assist with the implementation of products and services that involve significant Commonwealth and federal oversight, in addition to delivering support and design for industry specific applications that require integration with statewide systems or applications. You will interact and network with executive level business users or technical experts and function as the assistant to the Technical SME on an enterprise-wide system. Excellent communication and documentation skills, a strong teamwork mentality, and the ability to effectively problem solve and prioritize tasks are vital components of this position. Additional areas of focus will include:
Demonstrating expertise in teaching/conveying technical and/or functional courses/concepts. Developing appropriate work programs and use to effectively schedule tasks/assignments. Identifying improvements to project standards to achieve high quality services and products. Providing accurate estimates for design and programming efforts for system changes and enhancements. Anticipating, identifying, tracking, and resolving issues and risks affecting work responsibilities. Assisting with the development of contingency plans as necessary. Determining server sizing and configuration, printer configuration, bandwidth analysis, and capacity planning. Monitoring the availability of updates/upgrades to server hardware, tests and installs updates/upgrades. Performing impact analyses on production fixes and enhancements to establish priorities. Providing basic product support and accurate and complete answers to detailed product questions in a timely manner. Providing effective on-site product support as needed. Accurately sets severity of identified defects. Reviewing the system test approach and conditions used as the basis for detailed test scenarios.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Internship will run from May 2025 - January 2026.
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, however you will be required to report to the office every Wednesday. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Internship Requirements:
- An associates degree in any information technology field; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes two years of technical experience in network operation or network maintenance.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
Additional Requirements:
- You must have experience working with Windows operating systems released between 2016 and 2025.
- You must have Microsoft PowerShell experience.
- You must have experience doing basic server troubleshooting.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Experience with Schneider APC StruxureWare software
