Senior Manager, New Restaurant Opening Training (IHOP)

Lead and oversee national new restaurant opening training programs, systems, and logistics. Strategically collaborate with Franchise owners, operators, and the IHOP Operations team to develop a highly skilled workforce capable of delivering exceptional food and service while maintaining IHOP brand standards. This position includes direct management of New Restaurant Opening Training Specialists and indirect management of contracted staff.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Strategy

  • Provide strategic leadership and organization for new restaurant openings.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive training programs and tools for new restaurant openings.
  • Oversee the execution of new restaurant opening programs, ensuring alignment with company goals and standards.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Partner with franchisees and company leadership to identify and address training needs for new restaurant openings.
  • Develop and recommend strategies to enhance training programs and trainer capabilities.
  • Coordinate and facilitate virtual and in-person workshops to develop the knowledge and skills of New Restaurant Opening Trainers.

Training Development and Execution

  • Lead the development of training tools, services, and initiatives to support new and existing operations and marketing programs.
  • Implement and integrate new initiatives and standard operating procedures into the training program.
  • Revise and maintain training materials, process and procedure manuals, and resources related to new restaurant openings.

Logistics and Coordination

  • Plan, manage, and communicate logistics for new restaurant opening contract trainer project assignments.
  • Designate training locations and guide Training Restaurant leadership in the successful training of new New Restaurant Opening Trainers.
  • Coordinate and schedule in-restaurant training at designated training restaurants and new restaurants in training.

Mentorship and Support

  • Serve as a mentor and leader for franchisees' new restaurant opening teams.
  • Ensure New Restaurant Opening Trainers are prepared to train and execute IHOP standard operating procedures (SOP).
  • Validate that training programs are executed per brand standards and expectations.

Performance Evaluation

  • Utilize data and information to evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and provide solutions to enhance quality execution.
  • Track and manage expenses associated with new restaurant openings to ensure budget compliance.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform other responsibilities related to New Restaurant Opening Training as required.

Skills and Requirements

  • Accredited certification or degree in Business, Education, Communications, or related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 1-2 years of experience in restaurant management.
  • 2-3 years of professional-level training experience in restaurant operations.
  • Target base salary range 90k-100k depending on experience
  • Experience with opening new restaurants.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in creating professional training tools and assets.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Strong prioritization, multi-tasking, and deadline management skills.
  • Strong customer service skills, diplomacy, and tact.
  • Quick and accurate communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with web-based meeting platforms, including WebEx, Microsoft Teams, and Adobe Connect.
