OPERATIONS ANALYST (RAPTOR) The Operations Engineering team is responsible for building the factory that produces the world's most advanced rocket engine-essentially, the machine that makes the machine. This team oversees factory construction and expansion, optimizes process flows, develops automation, and drives strategic project planning. With a focus on precision and simplicity, they turn vision into reality on the factory floor. In this role, you will work hands-on with the production team to implement improvements, ensuring strategies translate into real-world efficiencies on the factory floor. You will develop the strategy, key metrics, and processes to assess the health of production. You will create robust, business-critical automation and take ownership of metrics that drive program-level decision-making. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design and implement state-of-the-art factory standards such as intuitive visual queuing, standardized lineside equipment, efficient space allocations, inspirational artwork, etc.
- Design and optimize factory layouts using SketchUp, ensuring linear product flow
- Identify operational challenges within the organization, determine root cause, and develop creative and effective solutions
- Actively perform continuous improvements for production processes, quality, faster build times, lower maintenance needs, project kitting, streamlined communication between teams, and feedback loops
- Develop, track, and standardize key performance indicators that quantify production system health and drive appropriate action
- Develop tools and reports to analyze delivery, capacity, cost problems for production, supply chain, and operations to guide decision-making
- Develop process flow models to analyze production system behavior and synchronize output with other elements of the company
- Conduct in-depth analyses of complex datasets using SQL and other relevant data tools to identify trends, diagnose issues, and develop data-driven solutions
- Develop automation that mitigates business risk or creates efficiencies within the Raptor factory
- Capture best practices of production systems, and manage organizational knowledge and lessons-learned
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree
- 1+ years of professional experience in manufacturing or industrial project management
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelors degree in engineering, business, supply chain, management information systems, or computer science
- 1+ years of experience in using Excel, SQL, or Python/R for analysis or modeling dynamic systems
- Proficiency with statistics, data analysis, cost/benefit analysis, and visualization
- Technical knowledge and skills in coding and computer applications (e.g. MS Office Suite, VBA, Smartsheet, SQL, Confluence, JIRA, Power BI, CAD, etc.)
- Experience with inventory, production, and capacity planning (including MRP/ERP systems)
- Experience as an industrial, operations, process or manufacturing engineer in a developmental manufacturing environment
- Experience leading multi-disciplinary and cross-functional teams working on strategic problems
- Ability to develop and maintain strong internal and external supplier/customer relationships in a fast-moving and ever-changing environment
- Strong track record of implementing continuous improvement efforts, ideally using problem solving frameworks including lean principles, six sigma, or Kaizen concepts
- Remarkable problem-solving skills with a bias for speed and accuracy
- Self-motivated, quick learner, and ability to prioritize efforts to meet customer and company goals
- Excellent written and communication skills
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Physical effort including standing, lifting, and carrying light weight such as materials or equipment (up to 15 lbs. unassisted)
- Must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends when needed to meet major milestones
- This position is based in Hawthorne, CA and requires being onsite - remote work not considered
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Pay range: Operations Analyst /Level I: $75,000 - $95,000/per year Operations Analyst /Level II: $90,000 - $115,000/per year Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience. Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock, stock options, or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
