RK&K's Construction Management Division is hiring a Financial Analyst. The person in this position will have responsibility for project accounting activities including working with the project Manager for all assigned Capital Improvement Projects (CIPs). The work will include establishing, updating, and maintaining the overall project budgets for each CIP, tracking and recording project costing against budget, financial forecasting, tracking accounts payables, submitting purchase requisitions, registering accruals, maintaining proper monitoring and reporting to ensure federal funding requirements are being met, and providing key financial metrics indicators.

Essential Functions




  • Research, comply with, and analyze project and accounting records in response to inquiries from internal and external sources and prepare the necessary documentation to support findings.
  • Review the monthly A/P closing process and ensure the timely posting of closing entries pursuant to the monthly General Ledger closing schedule.
  • Support Project Managers and stakeholders in tracking assets and ensuring adherence to the client's asset management policies and practices.
  • Gain an understanding of the client's systems and procedures for entering data into systems of record.
  • Work with the project management team to collect information and clearly depict the information in a manner that is easily reported.
  • Meet deadlines for generating reports, letters, memoranda, and other assorted documents required to support the department.
  • Disseminate information to and between managers and other staff as well as internal clients or partners as needed, creating defined information sourcing.
  • Compile and analyze basic information for inclusion in reports or presentation materials to assist management with preparation and communication of information.



Required Experience




  • Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university; (five (5) years of demonstratable experience in a similar role may be considered as alternate work experience).
  • In addition to the previous bullet, a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in a financial management and accounting position(s) or a mix of financial management and project management experience.
  • High competency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience working with documents, hard copy and digital, and file management.
  • Ability to manage tasks in a highly organized manner.
  • Experience performing quality control checks.
  • Ability to clearly and professionally communicate both verbally and written.
  • Ability to anticipate and provide equitable solutions to problems.
  • Ability to exercise good judgement, and display punctuality, initiative, and a good work ethic.
  • Ability to multi-task and use office tools to maximize communication and manage interruptions.
  • Experience working with secure contract documents, reports, and plans of WMATA's infrastructure that may be classified as sensitive information.
  • Previous document archiving experience preferred.
