Job Purpose

  • The Plant Floor Applications (PFA) Team Lead is responsible for projects, system enhancements and product support of several key Manufacturing Support (E-Support) systems such as Maximo, DeviceWISE, Activplant, MDT Autosave, Octoplant, MSIP, among others. This includes tools, methods and processes necessary for the development, verification and production of Automotive, Power Sports, and Power Equipment. Plant Floor Applications (PFA) have a large user base and is complex due to multiple interconnected regional application platforms.
  • Leveraging an Agile servant leadership mindset, and competencies in Humility, Ability, Passion, Youthful-in-thinking, Results-oriented, and Courage (HAPYRC), the Team Lead will provide expert direction, leadership and supervision of the technical staff managing the operations for this area. The staff includes associates, contractors and outsourced vendor resources. The PFA Team Lead is also expected to serve as the technical expert for the PFA tools when collaborating with other AHM IT Units/Teams and with HDMA user teams and functional groups.

Key Accountabilities

  • Supervisory responsibility for tools and processes within the Plant Floor Applications team.

    • Define system and application support metrics and use such metrics to monitor support quality and performance.


  • Key roles in implementing next generation PFA tools and processes.

    • Lead medium to large projects and act as NA Lead for Regional projects.
    • Define steps required to meet required outcomes for broad and complex initiatives
    • Set the necessary budget and resource plan for complex initiatives. Identify opportunities for sharing and utilizing PFA tools across the enterprise thus extracting maximum benefit.


  • Planning and Developing Strategy across the Plant Floor Applications team portfolio.

    • Establish and nurture a lean and agile collaborative culture, building strong partnerships with business teams to jointly prioritize and bring maximum value to Honda's innovation and operations
    • Work with multiple, diverse AHM & HDMA business unit leaders to develop 1-3 years strategic roadmap for future PFA functionality.


  • Supervise associates and contingents working in the Plant Floor Applications Team.

    • Adjust work plans and priorities to adapt to changing business environment.
    • Prioritize work among team members.
    • Assist Unit Lead in setting & evaluating associates' goals and development targets


  • At this level, the associate has some accountability in this category although will begin to contribute to the Unit and Department vision.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • Engineering or IT Bachelors Degree or equivalent job experience. Relevant industry certifications may also be considered in lieu of a Bachelors Degree.


Experience:



  • Around 7 to 15 years practical experience, of which4+ years supervisory experience.

  • Qualified candidates must have expert knowledge of at least 5 of these disciplines:



  1. Product development principles (Design, Specification, Testing, Release)
  2. Project development life cycle (Initiation, Design, Build, Monitoring and Controlling, Closeout)
  3. Project/Product Management Methodologies principles (Agile, Scrum, SAFe, etc.)
  4. Enterprise Management Applications principles.
  5. Electrical, Mechanical, Computer engineering principles.
  6. Manufacturing Applications
  7. Computer Operating systems (Windows, RHEL, AIX), database (IBM DB2, MS SQL, PostgreSQL) and application server administration (Java Fuse/EAP, Openshift, IBM WAS)
  8. Programming skills (Java, .NET, Python, HTML/CSS, Jira, Atlassian Confluence, GitHub, Bitbucket)
  9. Fundamentals of DevSecOps framework



  • Ability to communicate clearly in writing or verbally and adapt style depending on audience
  • Expert knowledge of product and manufacturing development lifecycles
  • Expertise at project & resource planning
  • Expertise in resource and budget planning
  • Expertise in managing vendors
  • Proficiency in developing a strategic plan
  • Ability to navigate a manufacturing plant floor as needed
