Job Summary

Saab Inc.'s Surveillance U.S. Division is seeking motivated Lead Production Test Engineer to work at our Headquarter facility in East Syracuse, NY. As part of a highly collaborative team, you will have the opportunity to work within a hands-on work environment, working on new technologies. This will give you an opportunity to not only learn about Saab, Inc. products, but will give you exposure to a variety of test tools and testing technologies to continue to build your skill set.

Responsibilities will increase over time with experience and will include:

  • Lead team of Production Test Engineers and Production Test Technicians to meet business objectives.
  • Integrates, develops, and implements cost-effective methods of testing and troubleshooting systems and equipment in a production environment.
  • Prepares test and diagnostic programs, designs test fixtures and equipment, and documents specifications and procedures for new products.
  • Defines, documents, analyzes, performs, and interprets developmental tests for new and/or modified products or product components.
  • Drives production testing development to take into account testability, efficiency and quality during the requirements definition phase of a program.
  • Efficiently diagnoses problem areas, identifies root cause and recommends cost-effectivesolutions.
  • Provides mentoring and broad technical guidance/coaching including lessons learned, viewed as an expert in field.

    Compensation Range: $112,900 - $146,800

    The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.

    • Bachelor's degree in a Technical or Engineering field (Associate's degree with significant experience will be considered).
    • 10+ years of hands-on experience in testing, troubleshooting, and repairing complex electronic systems in a manufacturing environment, with a strong focus on RF systems and high-power amplifier modules.
    • Proven ability to troubleshoot down to the component level using advanced diagnostic techniques and compare vendor specifications to test results to validate performance.
    • Strong knowledge of RF test and measurement equipment including spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, RF signal generators, power meters, and oscilloscopes.
    • Experience identifying and resolving issues within the test environment itself, including debugging test equipment setups, fixtures, and software integration points.
    • Demonstrated success in documenting, maintaining, and updating test procedures, calibration routines, and failure analysis reports.
    • Familiarity with testing and support of related subassemblies and ancillary systems within a production setting.
    • Proficient in test planning and implementing new test processes and procedures to improve efficiency and reliability.
    • Expertise in root cause analysis, problem decomposition, and risk assessment methodologies.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, production, and quality teams.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel); experience with data collection and reporting tools a plus.
    • Working knowledge of industry standards for electronic assemblies including IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620, and J-STD-001.
