POSITION SUMMARY:

The Quality Technician III supports Quality Assurance (QA) functions in the receipt, quarantine and release of materials, reviewing and maintaining records in support of manufacturing and quality, performing inventory and task tracking in ERP and other automated systems and participating in continuous improvement activities associated with functional responsibilities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Monitor temperature charts and data loggers and ensure timely notification of excursions.

* Inspect incoming raw materials, document results of inspections and perform material transfer transactions.

* Maintain up-to-date lot status identification on all inventory intended for customers or related to quality testing. Ensure correct physical location of inventory in quarantine or on hold status.

* Review batch records and associated documentation (e.g. NCMRs, Deviations) for adequacy prior to product disposition. Work with internal customers to resolve any documentation issues.

* Transact dispositions for in-process and finished products in JDE and execute tasks in QCS as appropriate.

* Perform physical inventory and cycle counts activities for quarantine areas.

* Actively participate in Material Review Board meetings as appropriate.

* Assist in identifying and developing processes to improve quality and efficiency of the equipment maintenance systems.

* Review and approve material specifications for raw materials.

* Maintain records pertaining to activities performed following GDP and retention procedures.

* Perform additional duties which may vary depending upon departmental requirements.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

* Associate's degree is required.

o High School Diploma and additional experience may be substituted for Associate's degree.

o Bachelor's degree is preferred

* A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is required.

* Experience reviewing and understanding basic chemical nomenclature

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

* Demonstrated understanding of basic scientific principles and measurements.

* High level of attention to detail and self-motivation.

* Ability to read and comprehend the content of documents and take appropriate action.

* Excellent communication skills with the ability to organize, present, and articulate ideas both verbally and in writing.

* Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines with an appropriate sense of urgency.

* Demonstrated analytical skills, as well as the ability to demonstrate sound judgment and problem-solving.

* Proficiency in MS Office applications as well as a capacity to learn additional software applications as the need arises.

* Ability to work independently and as an effective team member.

* A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected including the ability to multi-task in an environment with changing priorities

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

* There are aspects of this position that may require a person in this role be able to work at heights up to six feet on occasion and move/life objects weighing up to 25 lbs.

Up to 100 % of the day may be spent sitting or standing at a desk/lab bench working with a computer or other items that will require fine motor manipulation

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position is performed in a standard office environment and in a laboratory environment with chemical reagents.

COMPENSATION SUMMARY:

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $44,300 to $64,300. This salary range represents a general guideline as MSD considers other factors when presenting an offer of employment, such as scope and responsibilities of the position, external market factors, and the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities, education and experience. Employees may qualify for a discretionary or non-discretionary bonus in addition to their base salary. These annual bonuses are intended to recognize individual performance and enable employees to benefit from the Company's overall success.
