POSITION SUMMARY:
Assist in the daily operations of the Shipping & Receiving department in the receipt of raw materials and distribution of finished goods. Use job knowledge and experience to train employees on departmental procedures and increase efficiency and productivity.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Shipping
o Proficiency in packing and shipping sensitive electronic equipment and temperature sensitive products using various shipping systems and carriers
o Identify and create necessary paperwork, shipper's export declarations, and proper labeling for international shipments
o Use proprietary Sales Order Processing System (SOPS) to run shipping reports, verify shipping information, and reconcile sales order issues
o Identify areas for improvement of shipment accuracy
o Train new hires in shipping procedures
* Operate material handling equipment (e.g. forklift, pallet jack, hand trucks, etc.)
o Identify and report operational issues with equipment
* Inventory Transactions
o Transacting inventory to work orders, account numbers ,and sales orders using ERP system
o Process material requisitions through proprietary purchasing requisition system (APuRS) system and reconcile discrepancies between APuRS and the ERP system
o Process inventory through receipt routing and reconcile inventory issues using the routing ledger and associated paperwork
o Receive and stock incoming materials and finished goods
o Train new hires on inventory transactions
* Cycle Counting and Physical Inventory
o Investigate inventory adjustments using the inventory ledger
o Identify areas for improvement of inventory accuracy
o May be asked to be a team lead in conducting the physical inventory
* Other duties
o Assist in organization of inventory and work areas to maximize space and efficiency
o Drive company vehicles, or assist the driver, in the delivery of material throughout the company campus (and between corporate campus locations)
o Process outgoing mail using a USPS certified postage machine
o Work order assembly (Kitting) for manufacturing groups
o Re-stock shipping and inventory supplies throughout the company campus (as needed)
o Assist in the completion of all 'shared' responsibilities within the department (e.g. labeling, trash collection and disposal, consumables replenishment, inventory moves, etc.)
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
* High school diploma required
o Associate's level degree or equivalent experience preferred
* Minimum 2 years of experience in shipping and receiving
o Experience with UPS Worldship, a FedEx Cafe shipping system and LTL carriers
o Experience with inventory management/ERP systems, preferably JD Edwards
* Valid driver's license and company insurable driving record required
* Certified dangerous goods shipper
* Certified forklift operator
* Experience in a Manufacturing and/or Biotechnology environment
* Experience with cGMP and/or ISO certification is highly preferred
* A demonstrated level of consistency in performance and aptitude for managing additional responsibility and accountability are required for next level consideration
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
* Ability to operate/execute computer skills with a working knowledge of MS Office Suite and an Inventory Management /ERP system
o The quantitative background to advance this knowledge on the job is expected
* Able to create shipping and inventory reports
* Strong mathematic fundamentals and analytical background
* Demonstrate an aptitude for training others on shipping, receiving and inventory procedures.
* Effective oral, written communication and interpersonal skills
o Effectively communicate issues/problems and results that impact timelines, accuracy and reliability of inventory/shipping data
* Ability to multi-task and work productively in a demanding manufacturing environment with changing priorities
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
* Ability to lift 50 lbs.
* Ability to use material handling equipment
* This position requires the ability to communicate and exchange information, utilize equipment necessary to perform the job, and move about the office
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
* This position is mainly performed in a warehouse environment
o Certain tasks will require work to be performed in walk in cold rooms and freezers
COMPENSATION SUMMARY:
The annual base salary for this position ranges from $44,300 to $64,300. This salary range represents a general guideline as MSD considers other factors when presenting an offer of employment, such as scope and responsibilities of the position, external market factors, and the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities, education and experience. Employees may qualify for a discretionary or non-discretionary bonus in addition to their base salary. These annual bonuses are intended to recognize individual performance and enable employees to benefit from the Company's overall success.
