Duties, Responsibilities & Other

KCI Technologies has an immediate opening for a Practice Leader to build and manage the ITS and Traffic Practice in Florida. Preference will be given to candidates in the Central Florida and Tampa markets.

The Practice Leader will be responsible for the following:

    Marketing/Business Development - build backlog by pursing and winning new projects for the Transportation Practice
    • Identify target clients and opportunities that best position KCI to expand our presence in the Florida market and build backlog with FDOT, municipal clients and others.
    • Meet with and maintain relationships with existing and prospective clients to position KCI for future work
    • Lead the effort to market and position the firm strategically to capture opportunities
  • Lead teaming efforts and lead proposal development
    • Provide Leadership, Mentorship, and Professional Development guidance to staff
    • Take an active role in recruitment and development of new staff
  • Project Management/Engineering - serve as a Project Manager for studies or design projects
    • Serve as a PM or Subject Matter Expert (SME) to develop studies, plans, specifications and estimates
    • Develop scope, schedule and fees for NEPA and Traffic studies and design projects
    • Provide independent QA/QC on projects
  • Prepare and manage Traffic operating budget and monthly project reviews in the Traffic Practice support of the Florida region objectives
  • Work closely with other KCI Disciplines to market/cross-sell/work-share/perform work.

Preferred Qualifications

    • 20+ years of relevant, professional experience; 15 years on FDOT projects
    • Master's Degree and PTOE Certification
    • Florida PE License required


Qualifications

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field (AEC Industry) and minimum of 7 years of related professional experience, or 11 years of equivalent professional experience.
  • Progressive professional and increasing project management and organizational management experience.
  • Proven experience in project management roles within the technical practice.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability to build and lead teams of technical practitioners and/or project managers.
  • Strong interpersonal as well as verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage budgets, project margins, and cash flow.
  • Experience in business development, with a focus on maximizing client relationships and identifying growth opportunities.
  • Commitment to fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence within the Practice.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions.
  • Adaptability and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools use in the practice area.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to the service line.

Certificates, licenses, and/or Registrations Required:

  • Successful completion of the KCI PM Training and Contract Training for current employees) or ability to complete within six months (for new hires.)

Certificates, licenses, and/or Registrations Preferred:

  • Professional license or certification within the field of expertise preferred.
