Georgia-Pacific is now hiring for a Maintenance Supervisor at our lumber mill in Warrenton, Georgia. The Maintenance Supervisor will assist in leading an hourly maintenance team. The ideal candidate will be a self-driven individual with a passion for excellence in safety, manufacturing, and customer focus. You will drive safety excellence through promoting employee involvement, ownership, and accountability. You will also work to proactively identify hazards and implement appropriate mitigating strategies based on the risks involved while monitoring the quality of work and providing guidance to the team. This role will provide critical input to the management team and influence others, while positively impacting the organization.

What You Will Do

  • Primary focus will be on Green End root cause analysis and shop floor auditing/coaching for precision maintenance to address ongoing equipment issues.
  • Supervise/coordinate maintenance teams efforts that result in sustained improvement in all associated work processes including Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) compliance, Quality, Reliability, Production, and Costs.
  • Lead employees to work injury-free/incident free in a manufacturing environment consistent with Performance Based Management (PBM) philosophy and framework.
  • Adhere to all safety rules and regulations, including wearing and using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Facilitate team development and communication, employee skill development, problem-solving and resolution, and building employee commitment and ownership.
  • Hold employees accountable for the quality of craft work and drive cultural change in which employees understand empowerment and accept responsibilities.
  • Promote employee involvement and provide coaching, feedback, and direction.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues.
  • Be a leader of small group discussion and knowledge/feedback gathering.
  • Provide training to production associates and deliver training materials with a meaningful approach.
  • Complete all paperwork and analysis in a timely and efficient manner.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Two (2) or more years of supervisory experience (or GP facility specific experience) in a manufacturing, industrial, or military environment.
  • Experience in coaching, training, and developing a team.
  • Must be able and willing to work a flexible work schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able and willing to work in an industrial manufacturing plant environment, including extended periods of time in noisy, non-air conditioned or unheated areas.
  • Must have working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other PC-based systems.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Working knowledge and experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Maintenance scheduling/planning experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read structural blueprints and hydraulic schematics.
  • Ability to troubleshoot manufacturing operations equipment for mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues.
  • Experience within the lumber industry.
