201 LYONS AVENUE, NEWARK, NJ 07112-2027 Job Title: Post Graduate Year 1 Pharmacy Resident Department: Pharmacy Reports to: Residency Program Director - Director of Pharmacy Job Code: H0070 Summary: Receive training in a variety of pharmacy practice settings to meet the educational outcomes & goals set by the American Society of Hospital Pharmacists, To develop competence, skills, & application of drug therapy knowledge that supports optimal medication therapy outcomes for a broad range of disease states, The Resident provides clinical drug information, and distributive services to patients and other health care providers, The program enhances general competencies in managing medication use systems, Essential Job Duties 1, Complete 12 months of a training program to meet the program goals as well as the educational outcomes set by the American Society of Health System Pharmacists prior to receiving certificate of completion, 2, Train in the required pharmacy practice settings for a specified number of weeks as set by the program to meet the core goals and objectives of the program, 3, Elect training in other pharmacy practice settings as offered by the program, 4, Participate in research project by developing protocols, collecting and analyzing data, and preparing results for publication, 5, Present findings of the project at the Eastern States Regional Residency Conference, 6, Complete additional projects, quality initiatives, and activities as required, 7, Attend 3 professional and educational meetings/conferences, 8, Perform distributive Pharmacy duties in the Pharmacy, This includes weekend rotations and identified holidays, a, Monitors and assesses patient medication orders for dosage, frequency, drug interaction, therapeutic duplication, contraindications and appropriateness based on organ function and other pertinent data, b, Provides drug information as necessary, c, Dispenses medications with consistent accuracy and in accordance with State and Federal laws, d, Fills orders for medications accurately and in a timely manner, e, Maintains and completes all necessary documentation, f, Handles and maintains controlled substances in accordance with policies, state and federal laws and regulations, Minimum Qualifications Graduate of an accredited school or college of pharmacy and/or is a current practicing pharmacist, Must meet New Jersey license requirements and have scheduled the NAPLEX and MPJE exams for NJ prior to entering program, Must participate in and adhere to the rules of the National Matching Program process, Must apply to the program via Pharmacy Online Residency Centralized Application Residency Program 12 months in duration Above average communication skills and the ability to relate effectively to the public and health care professionals, RWJBarnabas Health is an Equal Opportunity Employer |
