As a Maintenance Manager at Norlen, a Ryerson family of companies, you will be responsible for providing leadership in the maintenance department. This also includes using good business judgment to make recommendations to the General Manager, manages the departmental budget, develops objectives and takes action consistent with the Company's mission. Roles and Responsibilities

  • Ensures the efficient and effective operation of all maintenance activities and provides support for a seven-day operation
  • Primary person in charge of planning, organizing, controlling and directing these operations and controls monthly departmental spending
  • Ensures compliance to OSHA safety standards on all company equipment
  • Implements maintenance projects to improve safety, quality and productivity
  • Develops, implements, and maintains a plant wide preventive maintenance program that ensures 100% equipment reliability
  • Manages and/or assists on capital expenditure projects from design and conception to fabrication and installation
  • Is responsible for technical management of contract maintenance and project personnel
  • Ensures maintenance improvement opportunities are identified with clear action plans to improve the value of maintenance activities
  • All other duties as assigned or duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice

Requirements

  • Requires a minimum of an Associate Degree in Maintenance or related field or equivalent
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience
  • Requires ability to exercise good business judgment in making daily operating decisions with the long-term best interests of the business in mind
  • Strong quantitative and logical thinking skills, combined with the ability to think creatively in order to envision relationships between data, and communicate those findings to key decision-makers
  • Excellent organizational skills with emphasis on attention to detail, ability to organize tasks, manage multiple projects, create and maintain documentation, prioritize work, and meet deadlines with minimal direct supervision
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to interact across multiple departments and levels within a medium to large size enterprise
