Terminal Operator - Bridgeport CT

About the position:

Sprague has an extensive network of terminals located throughout the Northeast and our operations team prides themselves on the smooth, efficient, and safe operations of these facilities. We are currently looking for a Terminal Operator to join our team in Bridgeport, CT. We are seeking an operator capable of a wide range of duties in a gasoline/oil tank farm/bulk handling facility. Work is performed outdoors in a maritime environment 24 hours a day.

This role is primarily based in our Bridgeport Terminal but will provide coverage for our Stamford Terminal when needed. While the primary shift covers daytime hours, candidates must be adaptable to work various days and shifts, including weekends and nights.

Duties / Responsibilities:

• Assisting with mooring vessels
• Offloading barges and vessels
• Gauging of tanks
• Conducting and managing inventory of liquid product
• Maintenance and repair of loading racks and storage tanks
• Maintenance of grounds, buildings and/or equipment
• Conducting scheduled equipment inspections and repairs
• Operation of terminal equipment and machinery
• Customer service
• Other duties as required

Education / Experience / Skill Requirements:

• Experience in a bulk fuel storage plant a plus but not required
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Knowledge of basic math including fractions
• Mechanical aptitude
• Good computer skills
• Must have a valid driver's license
• Ability to obtain a TWIC card
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Must be able to do shift work including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed

Physical activity/strength requirements are demanding and may include:

• Frequent standing, walking, sitting, getting in/out of truck, climbing-stairs, ladders, slopes (i.e., tank ladders/stairs/ramps), grasping/handling, reaching forward
• Occasionally bending/stooping, crawling, reaching overhead, twisting, balancing, squatting
• Frequently lifting/carrying 1-20 lbs., occasionally 21-100lbs plus lbs. (i.e. oil, steel parts, spouts, tools)
• Occasionally pushing/pulling 1-100 plus lbs. (i.e. mooring lines)
• Frequently exposed to chemical agents and fumes and odors, outside weather conditions including extreme heat/cold,
• Occasional exposure to noise, dust, vibration, solvents, petroleum products, slippery surfaces
