For our state-of-the art 600+ person Lubbock, TX cheese and whey manufacturing facility, Leprino is seeking a Powder Compositor to join our QE Team. The plant will became operational in 2025 with Phase 1 and will become fully operational by 2026 with Phase 2! This position is responsible for monitoring powder production, collecting samples pulled by production operators, creating composites for required testing, shipping samples to Denver Analytical Services and Third Party Labs as required by the manufacturing specifications.
- Responsible for the safe operation of the associated equipment and/or processes, the quality of samples prepared in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and safe work practices. This position is also responsible for maintaining 5S standards and participating in and implementing continuous improvement.
- Review production records daily and compare with samples provided to determine if the expected sampling frequency was executed. Communicate with production and warehouse teams to request the pallets for any missing samples. This role is responsible for collecting the missing samples to ensure composites are accurate.
- Create powder logs with accurate information to be used by Main Lab Technicians while anlayzing samples.
- Create composites/samples for testing per MASTCONT policy requirements using aseptic sampling techniques. Samples vary in frequency such as each pallet, 10 pallet composite, and day lot composite.
- Deliver samples to plant Main Lab and Micro Lab in an efficient manner, properly identified for efficient and accurate testing.
- Create required documentation and ship samples to Denver Analytical Services labs. This includes accurate Shipping Requests in Labware, and using the proper shipping procedures to ensure samples are processed in a timely manner.
- Create required documentation and ship samples to Third Party Labs as required by manufacturing specification and TPL testing matrix. This includes accurate sample submission requests per lab, and using the proper shipping procedures to ensure samples are processed in a timely manner.
- Inventory tracking for all supplies used for this process (scoops, sample bags, labels, etc). Collecting packages delivered and stocking supplies for the work area.
- Advise appropriate management and operations personnel about sample conditions, recommending corrective measures. Communicate to QE Supervisor any delays in completing daily tasks.
- Exhibit strong organizational and time management skills to manage work load consistently.
- Utilize the Fiori, LPS and SAP applications to manage required tasks collecting information and printing labels for samples.
- Represent the Quality Execution Department during corporate, regional or customer visits.
- In the event that powder production is down, this position will be reassigned to support lab duties as needed.
- Keep work area properly cleaned and organized.
- Follow all required safe practices and procedures. Maintain 5S standards and complete required master sanitation duties for role.
- Perform work in a safe manner by following safety procedures and policies, critical safety rules, and expected standard conduct.
- This position is responsible and accountable to ensure product meets food safety, regulatory, and quality requirements by following the Food Safety Plan, Quality Plan, and company policies.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience:
- Must be 18 years of age
- Must be able to read, write and speak the English language in order to understand/adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), to communicate effectively with others, to complete required documentation both in written and electronic form, and to troubleshoot systems utilizing the English language.
- Must have the ability to perform essential job functions
- Must wear required personal protective equipment
- Must comply with all applicable safety practices
- Maintain a clean work area
- Complete written reports
- Perform basic and intermediate mathematical calculations
- Enter data into and pull data from computer systems
- Must possess considerable problem-solving ability in dealing with equipment or troubleshooting when supervision is not readily available for consultation
- The Quality Technician must be able to perform basic mathematical functions in order to understand Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) on test methods and Corporate QC manuals
- Must have an understanding of basic chemistry or biology, and basic lab equipment and testing through on the job experience, or through high school or college coursework
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
- Prefer 2 years of work experience in similar type positions
- Experience in instrumentation operation and troubleshooting in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with computers and programs
- Experience with aseptic technique and sample pulling
