Position Summary

PLEASE NOTE: This position is for the
UNM Gallup Branch, located in Gallup, NM, approximately 138 miles west of
Albuquerque, NM.


UNM-Gallup is looking for a highly motivated and customer-oriented individual
to join our team as Sports Equipment Attendant within our Physical Education
Complex. This position is part-time with evening hours required.

The Physical Education Complex provides sports and
recreation activities to members of the UNM-Gallup campus community through
scheduled P.E. courses, open recreation hours, intramurals and planned student
activities. The facility includes an indoor basketball court, weight and cardio
rooms, and two outdoor fitness trails with various stations throughout, and
showers and locker rooms for patrons.

Sports Equipment Attendant assist with
daily operations by performing the following duties:

  • Providing excellent customer service
  • Issuing sports and/or recreational equipment
  • Maintaining inventory for new and used athletic supplies and
    equipment
  • Performing preventive maintenance and minor repairs on equipment
  • Assisting with routine operations and facility reservations
  • Ensuring proper care in use of equipment
  • Preparing facility for scheduled intramurals or other student
    activities
  • Cleaning and maintaining work areas and equipment

American Red Cross First Aid, CPR & AED
Certification required within 30 days of employment.

Conditions of Employment
  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the CWA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.


Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 6 months of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior face-to-face customer service experience
  • At least 6 months previous experience working at
    fitness/recreational facility or have knowledge of fitness and athletic equipment and sports specifications
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with team members
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task
