Job Title:Senior Data Privacy Analyst Job Description:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Educating the company and associates on important compliance requirements

  • Training staff in compliant data processing and storage

  • Conducting audits to ensure compliance and addressing any potential issues proactively

  • Serving as the point of contact between the company and supervisory authorities.

  • Interfacing with data subjects to inform them on their rights, how their data is being used, and what processes the company has put in place to protect their data.

Data Privacy Compliance:

  • Monitor and interpret data privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) to ensure organizational practices comply with current regulations.

  • Conduct data privacy impact assessments (DPIAs) to identify and mitigate risks associated with data processing activities.

  • Monitor data collection, usage, and sharing practices to ensure adherence to privacy policies.

  • Manage data subject access requests, data deletion requests, and privacy complaints.

  • Maintain accurate records of data processing activities and privacy impact assessments and provide regular reports to management and regulatory bodies.

Information Security Oversight:

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams (legal, IT, security, operations) to integrate privacy considerations into business processes.

  • Oversee incident response plans for privacy incidents, ensuring timely reporting and remediation.

  • Evaluate and monitor third-party vendors to ensure they meet the organization's data privacy standards.

Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of data processing activities and privacy impact assessments, and provide regular reports to management and regulatory bodies.

This role demands a strong understanding of data privacy laws, excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex privacy requirements to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Awareness and Training:

  • Develop and deliver comprehensive data privacy training programs for associates at all levels to educate them on privacy policies and procedures.

  • Promote a data privacy culture within the organization, encouraging associates to handle sensitive data responsibly.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders regarding data privacy concerns.

  • Advise leadership on data privacy implications of new business initiatives and technology implementations.

  • Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to ensure compliance with data protection regulations.

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Deep understanding of data privacy laws and regulations (CCPA, GLBA, FCRA, and BSA)

  • Expertise in information security practices, including risk management, access controls, and encryption

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and address data privacy risks

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels

  • Proven experience in developing and implementing data privacy policies and procedures

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • None

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field like Computer Science, Data Governance, or Business

  • 3 years or more of experience working in a similar role

Computer and Software Skills

  • Knowledge of RBAC, SAML, AD, LDAP, account lifecycle management, and other IAM tenets

  • Experience implementing Role Based Access Controls

  • Data Governance

  • Provide creative solutions to problems

  • Microsoft office suite

Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations

  • A current data privacy certification is preferred. Top certifications include those offered by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) such as Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM), and Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPT), among other recognized credentials.
